Dear Posse,
THE BORDER UNDER SIEGE UPDATE
At 2:58 Central Time this afternoon there was a gun battle in Guerrero, MX, near Falcon Dam in Zapata County, TX. When the cartel was still 8 miles out of Guerrero, word was spread through the town that if the cartel was not successful in taking over they were going to bomb the whole town. There is a report that, earlier, a gas station in Guerrero was bombed and leveled.
One of the reports I received last night said a trailer full of explosives was found in Arteaga, Coahuila, MX on Friday, the 19th.
A law-enforcement officer I work with stated that, as he was teaching a class to other officers in a border city today, he pointed out that with the use of automatic weapons, grenades and bombs there is no doubt this is a war zone.
There are very few reports coming out of Guerrero because people are staying inside their homes in fear for their lives. However, it has been reported that, since the weekend, several people have been abducted and not heard from again.
Not much human intel is coming in since the people are terrified to talk because their conversations are being monitored. One man was on the telephone giving law-enforcement in the US a report when a 3rd voice broke in screaming at him to hang up or they were going to come and kill him.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has sent reinforcements into Starr County and Laredo. Other counties have sent reinforcements to patrol their borders. The officers have to wear body armor and are never alone.
An alarming report came in this afternoon regarding one of the shoot-outs that happened in Reynosa, MX. My friend was driving when she heard sirens and pulled over. Police cars were chasing other cars which clearly were the bad guys. As they passed her, she saw that the police insignia had been painted over in blue with the letters CDG. The same thing has been reported from Miguel Aleman, MX, where 5 or 6 cars were seen with the same letters.
What is alarming about that is CDG stands for Cartel del Gulfo. The Gulf Cartel has taken over the cities, and cartel members are driving police cars, chasing their enemies, but clearly announcing who they are.
Tonight KRGV-TV station in the Rio Grande Valley was planning to air some of the stories. I do not know if they will be available on the internet, but reporters are supposed to have been to Guerrero and know what is going on.
One of the principles the Lord highlights often is "praying into people." We pray for help, He sends the right people, and then we do not support them in prayer. While our hearts are torn for the precious people in Mexico who are caught in this awful mess, PLEASE do not forget the thousands of law-enforcement officers from a myriad of agencies who are serving on our southern border, doing their very best to make sure there isn't spillover from this Drug War.
Thank you for the incredible response of support for those who are under seige along our southern border.
Pam
