For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light. Luke 8:17 LinkAmerica sponsors the Border Sheriff's Posse to "ride" the U.S. borders in intercession and to "pardner" with intercessors around the United States to protect the 26 counties along the US/Mexico border. It is critical that we take our place on this fence. If you are new to the Posse, WELCOME! Please read the information at the bottom of this email so you will know what to expect.

Dear Posse, Much has happened since I last communicated with you on September 8. We are living in a different world. However, THANK YOU for joining in the fight for the Yes on Prop 8 California Marriage Amendment. Several felt this is so critical ON A PERSONAL NOTE Let me begin by sharing my personal journey of the past couple of months. While I was in San Francisco for 11 days in September, reuniting with high school classmates and then attending a conference hosted by Cindy Jacobs to focus on the issues of marriage, I received word that my 83 year old mother (living in Ft. Collins, CO.) was diagnosed with a recurrence of abdominal cancer. After my return to El Paso, our daughter, son and grandchildren joined me in Colorado to spend time with my mother. Within 2 weeks of the diagnosis it was clear she was filled with cancer and nothing more could be done for her, except to keep her as comfortable as possible. Hospice services were obtained. Each family member had the opportunity to come for a visit and say good-bye. After a week I returned to El Paso to help our son and 2 grandchildren get settled back into our home - a huge adjustment in itself because we built a wall, turned the dining room into the children's room and delivered the dining room furniture to our daughter in Austin. On Sunday PM, 4 weeks after the diagnosis, my mother was gone. Though I had significant time with her the previous week, I was preparing to return to share in her final days. The hospice nurse on Saturday said she had 6-10 days left. By Sunday, another nurse thought she had 3-5 days, and 4 hours later she died. There are some precious things I'd like to share with you. Though Mom was heavily into the New Age Movement and had been since the late 60's, when she was alone with my sister, she spoke very directly about wanting peace, and Debbie was able to lead her to receive Jesus. Within 24 hours of praying, Mom was on such strong medication that she did not wake up again. In approximately 48 hours, on Sunday night, October 12, Mom passed from this life into the Presence of Christ. Though I was very sad to not see her 1 more time (I was leaving for Ft. Collins the next AM), I couldn't have been more at peace at the goodness of my Lord. I never doubted He would take care of her eternally, but I did not have the assurance I would know how. I thought I might just trust Him until my faith becomes sight when I also am in His Presence. On Monday I headed toward Durango, Colorado to pick up one of my brothers and we drove to Ft. Collins together. The time shared with my 5 brothers and sisters that week was the most precious I have ever experienced. On Saturday, October 18, after a lovely service (Sam flew in to facilitate) at the Senior Apartments where she lived, my mother was buried in the very old pioneer cemetery, Bingham Hill Cemetery, outside of LaPorte, Colorado at the foot of her great-great grandmother, Jennie Adams McGaa Brown. Jennie's mother was the sister of the Chief and medicine man of the Anpaha people - a nomadic Teton Ogallala Sioux tribe. He was called Chief Day, because the connotation of Anpaha is of the first full light, not just the break of dawn. It makes me smile to know the Lord named our ministry New Day. Jennie's husband, William McGaa, was the Scotsman who wrote the charter for the original township of Denver. My mother's ashes are at the spot she chose, just outside the white picket fence around her great-great grandmother. Her sister's ashes will soon be moved to be with her. On Monday, October 20, Sam and I drove 13 + hours back to El Paso with my SUV loaded with items from Mom's. |
| NO TIME TO REST |
|
By Monday, October 27, the gnawing in my heart became clear, and on Tuesday night I flew all night to NYC to be at the Prayer for the World's Economy at the statue of the bull, just across the street from the New York Stock Exchange. The following day I joined a group at the United Nations. On Friday morning my Jehovah Witness driver took me to the Brooklyn location (the Lord had me stay in Brooklyn) where Margaret Sanger opened her first family planning clinic (pre Planned Parenthood), a place that represents the acceptance of the eugenics movement in the United States, as well as the abortion movement. I attended the Convergence Conference on Friday PM and flew home late Saturday afternoon, November 1. On Tuesday, November 11 (11/11), I joined 2 intercessors called to heal the land in this region, and while they were completing their assignment the Lord had me take the key He gave me for "justice" (found on Justice Dr.) out of my purse and unlock and open the gate of justice. As I began to unlock the gate I checked my phone for the time, and it read 11:10. I held up for a few seconds because He had previously told me it should be at 11:11, though I did not orchestrate the timing. |
| CRYING OUT FOR JUSTICE |
|
On Wednesday, November 12, Joe Compean was re-sentenced. That night the National Border Patrol Council held a prayer vigil for the former Border Patrol agents in downtown El Paso, across the street from the federal courthouse. Thursday morning, November 13, Nacho Ramos was re-sentenced. This should have brought a little good news, but it did not. Since 2 of the charges, tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice, were thrown out by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, it was generally believed that some time would be subtracted from their sentences, but that did not happen. Still in effect are assault with a deadly weapon with bodily injury, 924C (the mandatory 10-yr sentence for using a gun in the commission of a crime - never meant to be used against law-enforcement), and the civil rights violation for which the Border Patrol has been sued for $5 million by the Mexican citizen drug smuggler.
PARDON OR COMMUTE There is a lot of talk about a possible pardon or commutation of the sentence of these 2 former Border Patrol agents. The defense attorneys are asking for their sentences to be commuted. Apparently a pardon will assume guilt and they will never be allowed to pursue legal channels to get their names cleared. Also, if a pardon should be given, they do not have the option of not accepting it. If the sentences are commuted, these 2 wonderful men will be free and with their families while they pursue justice through the legal system. I just heard from Monica Ramos that President Bush pardoned 14 people today (including drug smugglers) and commuted 2 sentences. It is possible there will be more to come before he leaves office. Please join me in praying their sentences will be commuted.
A GREAT VICTORY There has been one who has intentionally driven a wedge between the wives of these 2 agents, but PRAISE THE LORD the scheme has been exposed and they are fully restored and walking together. Let's pray to protect their unity and relationship. They will be a strong force for justice! IN TRANSIT Joe and Nacho are in transition. Following their re-sentencing in El Paso, they were immediately taken to Oklahoma City, where they await transportation to their permanent locations (as yet unknown). While they are being held at OKC they do not even get the usual 1 hour out of solitary confinement, but are locked up 24/7. Please pray for their strength, courage and peace. Also, pray the Lord will orchestrate their next housing assignments to be the most beneficial situation for each of them. JUSTICE, JUSTICE, JUSTICE I have seen and heard of some threads of possible situations that could be exposed if the right person grabbed onto the thread to pull and unravel. Please join me in praying for the right people to grab the right threads and pull, pull, pull. Corruption and injustice go so high that people who put themselves in this situation could be in danger. Let's pray they will be courageous and do what is right-because it is right-and that they will be protected in the process. Let's pray the Lord will encourage people to act as His instruments, whether or not they understand what they are doing. FLASH POINT FOR BORDER ISSUES Flash point 1) The lowest temperature at which the vapor of a combustible liquid can be made to ignite momentarily in air 2) The brink of crisis or open warfare I still firmly believe this case has become the flash point for so much of what is happening on the southern border of this nation. MANY people and MANY border circumstances all seem to intersect with this case. Immigration, illegal immigration, drug wars, cartel activity, money laundering...
When I pray for justice I am praying for the agents and their families, for law enforcement, for secure borders, for immigration problems to be worked out rightly and righteously, for immigration reform, for the Lord to expose breaches that need to be healed, for our government to do what is right for the people of our nation and not bow to pressure from Mexico, etc. I am constantly reminded that from the 1st day I chose to get involved with the Ramos-Compean case by attending the trial the Lord told me to pray for JUSTICE. |
| JUAREZ MURDERS |
|
In August I reported there had been 600 murders in Juarez so far this year. The total is now over 1,300. There were 30 murders from last Monday through Saturday. At least 10 people were killed on Friday. |
| JOAQUIN "EL CHAPO" (SHORTY) GUZMAN |
|
I want to tell you about one of the most powerful and feared men in Mexico. His name is Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman. Guzman rose from humble circumstances as a peasant in Sinaloa state. He worked his way up through the ranks of the Sinaloa cartel, but he was not well known until his involvement in a bloody gunfight that led to the murder of Cardinal Posadas Ocampo at the Guadalajara airport in 1993. Mexican security forces captured Guzman that same year. Shortly after he was transferred to the Puente Grande prison in Jalisco state in 2001, he had a sensational, bribe-facilitated jailbreak where he just "walked away" from that maximum-security prison. This gained him much notoriety. Chapo rebuilt the Sinaloa Cartel and began shipping tons of cocaine from Columbia through Mexico into the U.S. Though he had billions in cocaine dollars and control of the Sinaloa Cartel, Guzman attempted to take over the main drug plazas (marketplaces) and smuggling routes through Mexico's Gulf Coast, Ciudad Juarez and Tijuana. He is in a four-front war with the Gulf Cartel, Juarez Cartel, the Tijuana Cartel and the Mexican government-a war that has caused the deaths of tens of thousands of people. According to Howard Campbell, professor of anthropology at the University of Texas at El Paso, "Chapo and his men have killed high-ranking officials and challenged the legitimacy and power of the Mexican state. Guzman is motivated by greed, self-preservation and an overwhelming lust for power. The cartel drug war instigated by him is fast becoming a civil war of ghastly proportions, seriously damaging the social and political fabric of Mexico." Will you join me is declaring that the veil will be lifted and Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman will be apprehended by the Mexican authorities and brought to JUSTICE? We must also pray that the vacuum of leadership will not be filled when he is apprehended and that the Mexican government will be able to break up the Sinaloa Cartel. |
| ATTACK ON FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION |
|
A 40-year-old journalist was murdered in Juarez on November 13 as he was preparing to take his daughter to school. She was in the car with him when the 10 rounds were fired, though she was not hurt. Mexico is considered the deadliest country in the Americas for reporters. The Committee to protect Journalists in New York stated that 24 journalists have been killed in Mexico since 2000. An additional 7 are still missing.
In the violence-plagued city of Culiacan in northwestern Mexico the newspaper offices of El Debate de Culiacan have been damaged by two grenades, but the director says his newspaper won't be deterred from coverage of drug cartels. Culiacan is the capital of Sinaloa. Lord, thank You for this show of courage. Please protect them and please keep the press free to report the truth in Mexico. |
| DRUG WAR SPILLOVER |
|
Much debate has taken place about whether or not the Drug Wars will spill over into the U.S. Most law enforcement agencies in this area have continued to claim they believe it will not, though the claims have not been nearly as emphatic as they used to be. Recently an annual analysis of the West Texas High Intensity Drug Intelligence Center, HIDTA, mentioned the potential for spillover of cartel violence because drug trafficking organizations (DTO's) may more readily confront law enforcement officers in the U.S. who seek to disrupt these DTO smuggling operations. The West Texas HIDTA covers 12 counties near the border and includes the cities of El Paso, Midland and Odessa. Robert Almonte, executive director of the Texas Narcotic Officers Association, doesn't think Mexican cartels will confront U.S. law enforcement directly. He states, "any confrontation will be the result of them coming after targets in the U.S. Cartel enforcers prefer to lure targets into Mexico or kidnap victims and take them to Mexico."
BORDERS DON'T EXIST FOR DRUG TRAFFICKERS I have heard a report that over 50 U.S. citizens (just from El Paso) have been kidnapped this year. Phil Jordan, retired DEA official and ex-director of EPIC, the El Paso Intelligence Center, recently spoke to a local reporter, "The godfathers of drug-trafficking never had any borders and never respected any borders. What is going on is an intimidation technique to let anyone who leaves Mexico to hide from them know they will be pursued here." Please join me in asking the Lord to protect and secure the borders of the United States, expose hidden threats and bring all who would harm us out into the open. |
|
Thank you for your faithful prayer support for the borders of our very vulnerable nation. It is exciting for me to meet intercessors who sense a strong call to pray over our borders. While I was in New York City I had the opportunity to meet a woman from Florida the Lord has specifically called to pray over illegal shipments of guns. He even showed her the locations and routes that are used. I was amazed! "For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light." Luke 8:17 Back in the saddle again, Pam |
| ABOUT THE BORDER SHERIFF'S POSSE |
Welcome to the Posse. You won't be flooded by email, but I periodically send specific information and prayer points. We support ALL law enforcement agencies, pray that illegal activity will be stopped (drugs, human trafficking, etc.) and declare that those who are slipping across America's borders with the intent to cause harm be exposed and apprehended. This is not about politics! This is about the protection of the United States of America. I was visiting with a prophetic intercessor who did not know about the Border Sheriff's Posse when she pointed her finger and said, "And right now God is pinning badges on hidden intercessors.....like a Sheriff's badge," and, with that, she poked her finger into my shoulder! Are you one of those being "deputized by 'The Sheriff' to aid in law enforcement?" Will you join me as we ride with the Lord, our Border Sheriff? We'll "ride" the fence. We'll catch rustlers, mend spiritual fences and sing some great trail songs along the way. Please e-mail LinkAmerica to join the Posse or use the Subscribe link in this email. If you would like copies of past Posse updates, most of which detail conditions on the US/Mexico border, please let me know. Pam Faraone LinkAmerica El Paso, TX
