3rd Annual MSU Catwalk Slideshow
On August 24th Montana State University and the Downtown Bozeman Partnership hosted the third annual MSU Catwalk. Marching from business to business with MSU President Waded Cruzado, Champ, The MSU Spirit of the West Marching Band, students, players, and community members lit up Downtown Bozeman with the ferocious spirit only Bobcat Fans can produce. The fight song was played, Bobcat gear was passed out, autographs signed, and plenty of treats and smiles were spread throughout the downtown area, getting everyone pumped for MSU's first night game against Chadron State.

Pure Barre Brings Bozeman a New Workout Concept
About 3 years ago while living in San Diego, Kaitlyn Kurn embraced a new concept in exercise called Pure Barre. Kaitlyn
had danced ballet through college and loved to dance but could no longer manage the sheer impact dancing had on her body. Then, she discovered Pure Barre and only a couple of classes in, Kaitlyn was hooked to this unique and intense exercise method that was growing nationwide! Shortly thereafter, Kaitlyn began teaching Pure Barre classes while also working full-time in marketing and sales in the fashion industry. Read More
Stix Moves to New Main Street Location
In 2004 Suzanne Colon and Cameron Hildreth had a vision to make the knitting arts an accessible hobby in Bozeman. "It was at
the height of the knitting boom," according to Cameron, "and as yarn production became more sophisticated; creating unique and great-looking hats and scarves became easy for the novice." So, she and Suzanne opened a small yarn shop in Downtown Bozeman in a quaint baseman space on South Tracy. In addition to their wonderful selection of knitting products, they have become well-known for their unique and colorful display of knitting along the railings of their eclectic staircase entrance that have also trickled onto street signs along Main Street. Downtown Bozeman is Making the Grade
I recently read an interesting article about how the health of an urban neighborhood is defined by five basic elements. Howard Blackson, a principle at Placemakers (a national planning and urban design firm), contends that the resilience and quality of life of a downtown district is determined by "the 5 Cs" of being Complete, Compact, Connected, Complex and Convivial. Reflecting on Blackson's article, here my assessment and report card of how Downtown Bozeman is doing in these important areas. Read More
- Complete.
- Compact.
- Connected.
- Convivial.
- Complex.
Downtown Bozeman certainly can be improved upon in terms of having more residential options and being better connect to the rest of the community. Nonetheless, downtown makes the grade with an "A-" for being complex, convivial, connected, compact and complete. Read More
