Downtown A.R.T. Project

A.R.T.On November 21, 2011 the Downtown Partnership launched a new public art initiative: the Downtown A.R.T. Project. A.R.T. is an acronym for "Artistically Reclaimed Trafficboxes". There are currently ten traffic signal boxes within the Downtown Business Improvement District, seven of which are along historic Main Street.

The goal of the Downtown A.R.T. project is to add vibrant public art to the streetscape and decrease the instances of graffiti, poster and sticker vandalism on the traffic boxes. Once covered by art, the traffic boxes will be functional pieces of public art that contribute significantly to the vitality and attractiveness of the downtown streetscape rather than attracting vandalism.

The Downtown Partnership is collaborating with Clean Slate Group and Flying Horse Communication to pilot the project on the traffic control box located at the corner of Main Street and Rouse Avenue. This box will be covered with high-performance anti-graffiti vinyl that has been printed with a variety of historic images depicting downtown. Click here for more information.

Black Sheep Custom Leather Opens in New Downtown Location

Black Sheep Custom Leather has been an operating business in black sheep saddleDowntown Bozeman for nearly 4 years but the name may not have the recognition it deserves. Black Sheep has been making high-quality cowboy leather goods inside the well-known cobbler shop; Carter's Boots and although successful, just recently opened a stand-alone location just a few blocks west. Now at 16 South Willson, owner Brian Esslinger is excited about his new store and features a beautifully renovated space with an amazing selection of everything a real cowboy would need to spoil themself. Donna Vogel Goes Out on a Limb at 31 South Willson

Out on a Limb In 2008, Donna and Joel Vogel, along with kids; Lara, Hannah and Derk, decided to sell their business in South Florida and move to Bozeman ready to embrace the new lifestyle it brought. And, after owning a digital blue-printing business for many years, Donna and Joel had the experience and were ready to start a new business that they can run together while raising their kids and enjoying family time. So, after lots of hard work and planning, Out on a Limb at 31 South Willson was born.  Joel's mother had been collecting Sticks, hand-carved furniture and home accents, for many years. Donna fell in love with the beauty and functionality of the Sticks products. After discovering that no one was carrying them in Bozeman, the planning began. Click here for more information
