Downtown BID
Maintenance Program Going Strong
Summer is in full swing and downtown has
never looked better, thanks to the Downtown Business Improvement District (BID)
maintenance program. Over the years the
BID maintenance program has grown to this year include one full-time and one
part-time employee, Josh Minalga and Kyle Gallagher.
Josh Minalga can be seen all over downtown
doing a variety of projects to keep downtown clean and inviting. Seven days a week from June through
September, Josh and Kyle water the beautiful flower baskets and empty the trash
receptacles. Five days a week Josh is
undertaking a multitude of additional tasks including:
· Pick up
garbage from storefronts, doorways and sidewalks
· Clean
up Soroptomist Park and wipe down tables and benches
· Remove stickers
and posters
· Remove
graffiti tags
Speaking of
graffiti, in June and July alone, Josh vigilantly removed over 150 graffiti
tags throughout the business improvement district.
In addition to all of these responsibilities, Josh also maintains the
light pole banners, assists with DBA special events, takes care of Soroptomist Park, and waters trees. The BID maintenance team utilizes the beloved
Mule ATV and pick up truck to perform many of the day-to-day tasks.
The goal of the BID maintenance team is not only to keep downtown in top
shape, but also to ambassadors. They
often can be seen advising visitors where to grab a bite to eat or how to find
the library.
