RADIANT REKINDLINGS

"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us."

Albert Schweitzer

It's not something that we like to think about, the light going out-the light from within especially, but what about the lights above you? Imagine being a single mother of a teenager in a high school honors program. Your daughter works hard to keep her grades up, she excels despite difficult financial circumstances. You do what you can to support her. You do your best. But then the notice comes in the mail-the lights are going out.

What do you do? This woman arranged for her daughter to go live with friends-where she'd have lights to study by, warm meals, and hot showers. But she also got in touch with Radiant Hands, and a day before their electricity was to be cut off...the day before her daughter would have had to leave Mom behind in the darkness...Radiant Hands paid the bill...and the lights stayed on.

We live a country of endless opportunities for the less fortunate...or so it seems. There's always a light at the end of the tunnel, right? Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps...and get on your way.

Sometimes the tunnel is short, and the light at the end of it is bright and clear-but that too can be an illusion. Radiant Hands provided far more than a check during a time of need. Charity, when given in the spirit of kindness, does far more than keep the lights on-it rekindles the light within.

WILL THERE BE A DINNER?

As you know, for the past five years, Radiant Hands Inc. has had an Annual Fundraising Dinner.

This year, Radiant Hands will not be hosting a dinner. Instead we are asking those who attended the dinner please consider giving the same amount ($35/person) to our efforts. A donation from a family of 4 would provide funding for two GED exams or allow two students to study for one semester. All donations are tax deductible.

Since January 1, 2012, Radiant Hands has had 50 applications for assistance and has been able to approve 33. We have distributed almost $13,000 to deserving families in difficult times. Sadly we are now having to deny applications due to lack of funding. Now is the time to make a difference.

An easy way to get involved and participate is through payroll deduction, or by setting up automatic payment from your bank, credit card or paypal. Remember, you are investing in the future of the entire community not just a single family.
