DID YOU KNOW?
Have you been reading the articles in the Gainesville Sun recently? Then you have seen that 24% of Alachua County children, 15.4% of Marion County, and 36% of Levy County children live at or below the poverty level. The reality of these statistics is that children in our community are going hungry, they live in the dark sometimes because their parents don't have money for utilities and food or even worse - the entire family faces eviction.
The mission of Radiant Hands Inc. as you know, is to step in before the worst happens.

As an example of your good work:
Just this week, we received a request from a mother of 5 children. She is working with Temp Force because this is the only employment she could find. She has kept the job for more than a year and her employer said if they could have a permanent position for her they would hire her immediately. The woman is very frugal with her money saving part of her weekly paycheck for the next month rent, but recently her car broke down and she had to get it fixed to continue going to work. She worked a deal with the mechanic but now could not meet her rent obligations. None of the other organizations were able to assist her and she didn't have anywhere else to turn until she was referred to RH.
The following is a message we received from the woman:
"Words can't explain how much I tearfully appreciate your assistance in my time of need. This means so much to my family and I. May GOD bless RH. Thank you so very much!!" Another grateful mom: "I can't thank you enough for assisting me with my utility bill. I had one more day before my service was to be interrupted. I have a 17 year old daughter who is in her last year of High School, she works incredibly hard @ her school work, and because of that, she's in the International Baccalaureate program at Eastside High. I'm so excited to tell her the news that Radiant Hands prevented interruption of our services. We were making plans for her to go live with another family so she could have cooked meals, ability to shower etc... Now we don't have to split up our family. I will forever be grateful for your kindness. I was at my wits end, had absolutely no where to turn, just kept hitting locked doors. Finally, a door where we were welcomed with Radiant Hands... We, as a family thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

RADIANT WORKS
In case you haven't heard, funding for education has been cut. The GED classes now cost $55.00 per person to attend, and then the exam fee is $70.00. Radiant Works is now screening potential applicants for assistance with the course fee. There is still time to make a donation that can be claimed on your taxes for 2011. Don't delay, invest in the future of members of the community. Your designated donation could be instrumental in changing someones life forever. Make a difference.
