Greetings!
A special request to help a mom in Gainesville:
Radiant Hands is currently providing financial asssitance to
a sister in Gainesville who lives with her children in housing
provided by the St. Francis House. Because she is facing a legal battle
with her ex-husband over custody of the children, she has fallen behind on her
utilities and rent payments. The assistance we can provide is of course
limited by our resources; we would like to raise an additional $700 to help
this family. Please consider helping us fulfill this need to
help her get back on her feet.
Another request to help a mom in Ocala
There is a single mom in Ocala, with 4 children. Her ex-husband isn't providing child support at this time because he lost his job. The woman is recovering from surgery for intestinal cancer and has other medical issues. RH will help with her overdue rent and provide a foodcard for the immediate needs, however she will need some extra support for the next couple of months until she can work. She has already put in applications at the jobcenter in Ocala. She is receiving food stamps and is living in subsidized housing. She is willing to work, so if you know of any position in Ocala area please contact Radiant Hands.
If you are able to help either of these women, please send your check to Radiant Hands Inc., PO Box 140661, Gainesville, FL 32614.
Thanks

Interfaith Hospitality Network: is looking for some volunteers
If anyone would be interested in volunteering a few days a week at the day center office. While many of you know that IFN houses families in shelter throughout this program - they also help to house just as many (and most the time more) families in our transitional housing program. This means that they need just as much case management and referral help off-site.
The day center manager from the Interfaith Hospitality Network has gone, Ms. Spear was wondering if anyone would be interested in volunteering a few hours a day/ a few days a week doing some basic clerical work at our office. The basic duties would be answering the phone, screening calls for participants, some basic typing duties, filing, putting together mail-outs and generally just being in the office when the program director needs to leave. We really wouldn't even need someone the entire day. Possible Mon, Wed, Friday from say 1pm - 5pm? She is very flexible and open to the schedule they may want. Let Ms. Spear know if you, or anyone you know is interested. Ms. Spear's number is 352-378-2030 or nspear.ihn@gmail.com Thank you so much! Nicole Spear Program Coordinator |
New Family Coming to Gainesville
There is a new family from Saudi Arabia coming to Gainesville in mid August. The husband will be completing a sabbatical at the University of Florida. The wife is looking to participate in post-graduate study. They have
three children aged 13, 11 and 4 and would like to meet other families in the community. RH will provide contact information later in the summer once they arrive. Let's make them feel welcome.
