Update
Thanks to the generosity of the community, we were able to help the new mother get the necessary tires for her car. Due to the fact that they were for a jeep, the tires were more expensive than one would normally think. After checking with numerous discount tire stores, we were able to work with Clydes Tire And Brake to get the tires at cost with no labor charged for installing, balancing etc.
We were also able to help with the utility payment for another young mother. We have set up a program to match what she earns herself, in order to have more incentive to participate actively in improving her situation.
Radiant Hands has also worked with the woman with terminal cancer and assisted with partial payment of her rent. She was able to obtain the rest of the fee herself. She is making plans to move as soon as she gets a release from her current residence and can find less expensive housing. |

Abraham's Table Discussion
The Silk Road Club of UF presents the third Abraham's Table Discussions.
Similar to our annual Interfaith Dialog Dinners, the Abraham's Table Discussions allows persons of different faiths to informally come together and learn about each other's beliefs. Abraham is the unifying Prophet among Jews, Christians, and Muslims, and his famous table, which brought together people of different walks of life, is the inspiration for our program. The topic for our third discussion is "the role of religion in social support". Three moderators representing Christianity, Judaism, and Islam will briefly address the topic from their own perspective.
Attendants will then have the opportunity to raise questions and discuss in a very informal environment.
The event will take place at 7.00 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Reitz Union Room 284 located by the intersection of Museum Road and Reitz Union
Refreshments will be served
