Greetings!
Welcome to a new year! For many of us, the year is well on the way! Since the last issue, I have achieved a personal goal- to purchase our own home in the mountains. My dream of open space, lots of sunshine, quiet and nature surrounding has become a reality! I couldn't have done it without the wonderful support and determination of my terrific husband!
Not only is credit due to my terrific Chris, but also to a persistent nature I have been blessed with, and am still developing! The relentless focus on what we really wanted for our home, even when it didn't seem possible, I believe got us here! I kept returning to that vision, though my gremlins kept telling me it wasn't possible. I am convinced that by keeping present to this intention, and by working hard doing the things we needed to do, our dream become a reality!
So this year in the newsletter, we will focus on what you are doing to have the life you want. Are you still doing the same things, expecting different results? BTW-Einstein defines this as insanity! What habits are you practicing? Will they lead you to the life you want? Maybe it is time to get out of 'knowing', and get the support you need to be living! This is why people hire coaches!
So, this issue we will focus on doing- What are you doing to improve your circumstances, wellness, points of view?? We will discuss things that you can do to improve your outlook and how to find new opportunities for leading a healthy lifestyle.

Stressful and uncertain times
Everyone talks about the economy, but no one does a thing about it. Sound familiar? With so much attention on the state of our economic 'situation', how can you not be affected? Have you noticed how much energy is tied up into this global conversation?
The tension is high, and so might be your blood pressure! You may not have control over the stock market, but you do have control over how you respond. In efforts to reduce your stress, here are some tips for turning re-action into pro-action.
Take a news fast
Plan one day that you do not listen to the news. Turn off the tube, turn off the static radio and all the bad news it sends. Instead, try some relaxing music, or a stimulating conversation with your mate. The world isn't going to go away, but your world view may improve!
Focus on something that is working in your life
Maybe it's your relationhip with your kids, or maybe it's that little piece of dark chocolate that you give yourself at the end of a hard day. Pick something you enjoy, like a flower, your dog or the wonderful feeling of sunshine as it washes over your body, and really focus on everything wonderful about it!
Take a mental vacation
Yes, you can go to Tahiti in 5 minutes! Stop what you are doing, turn down the lights (and off the computer!), close your eyes and focus on a wonderful place- it could be that beach you visited, or a spot on a mountain top only you can image. Imagine what the air feels like? What smells do you notice, or sounds do you hear? Really feel what it is like to be there!
There are many situations and events outside of your control. But remember you have control over your thoughts, actions, and responses to these circumstances in your life. You can choose your actions. This is where you gain your power! Choose well! | |

Finding value in what you have completed
In having achieved the home I wanted, I understand that there was a method to making it a reality. What started as a dream, became a reality with some intentionality, support and action.
What did you achieve in 2008? Do you feel you are on the hamster wheel of life? You might want to stop and assess-what support do you need? What will it take to make the change? What do you need to do differently?
Completing 2008
Take a look at what you completed, assess your results. Did you reach that goal of exercising 5x/week, or eating regular healthy meals? Even if you didn't fully achieve your goal, to what extent did you make progress? Celebrate that! If you haven't already, spend some time thinking about what worked, and didn't, with last year's intentions. Creating 2009
Now look at where you would like to be at the end of this year. Do you see an active lifestyle? Running a 1/2 marathon, or making it to the top of that 14er? Really enjoying the new good-for-you foods you discovered? Fitting into those old jeans? Feeling great about the skin you are in?
- What would your life be like if you actually achieved this?
- What would be the value of actually reaching your wellness and lifestyle potential?
So, this isn't just a nice idea, you have to put it into action! Where do you need to be in 6 months to achieve this? And to make this even more a reality, what will you do this week to move you toward this vision?
Working with a wellness coach, you have objective support, someone who sees you as bigger than you know yourself to be, who continually reminds you of your greatness and commitment toward your improved health and life satisfactions. Are you worth it?
