Greetings!
Solstice-what a fabulous time! Officially, winter has begun, and the days will increase in length. And the holidays are upon us. What healthy habits have you continued? What will you come back to after the holidays? Can you be with your choices? Remember, what you said you would do to take care of yourself is what YOU said.
This edition I would like to discuss how wellbeing starts with the conversations you have with yourself. Sure, this typically is a stressful time, with so many needs and demands, yet it all comes back to our choices and what we choose to take on- or not! Last edition I wrote about the things you can do for a healthier holiday season. What did you decide, or say, about those things that kept you from doing them? Remember, optimal health is not only the mastery of physical health, but also mental health- your thoughts, feelings and judgements. Being in alignment with what you value is critical to access your wellness. Without the mindset of wellness you are not fully accessing your optimal health.
Don't make excuses or justifications about why you didn't keep your commitments to yourself. Clean it up, create new promises and an empowering vision for your wellbeing. Then get going with it! I am here to help you make those changes!
Happy solstice & enjoy winter!

The mindset of wellness
What are you enjoying this holiday season? How else can you look at your situations so you can make the best of the holidays?
Yes, we discussed that it is possible to enjoy the holidays without sacrificing your health and wellbeing. Often it really is how you look at your life. Two people can have the same circumstances, yet one sees it as wonderful and the other as terrible. Are you generally optimist or pessimistic? Studies have shown that optimist tend to live longer. Hmmm?! Though you don't often have control over everything that happens around you, you do have a choice on how you react. Next time you find yourself reacting, getting angry or responding habitually in a way you don't like, chose something else. Another thought (that makes you feel good!), a different response, or a new way of looking at the situation (or what you can learn). You can create a new pattern, a new set of actions, or a new perspective that can have you feeling happier and healthier.
Chosing to care for yourself by doing things like sleeping more, taking down time when needed, continuing your exercises and activities, or limiting what you are eating (especially the fats and sugars), leaves you in control of your health. When you feel in control, you are back in your power, a place of strength and confidence. Your choice.
Want to make sustainable changes this year? Need help moving toward a healthier you?? Please ask! Get the support you need to make these changes part of your life. I look forward to hearing from you!
Be well, Joelle

| Tips for a Happy, Healthy Holiday season- |
Tips for a healthy holiday season-Once again, here are some tips for a healthy holiday season!
· Don't abandon existing healthy habits! · Limit portions & avoid mindless eating. Eat nutrient dense foods, savor each bite, & avoid excessive sugar · Get exercise! Exercise dramatically affects well being and stress levels. Schedule your exercise and stick with it! · Take a break & make some time for yourself- 10 minutes alone, time in nature, focus on your breath, mental vacation
· Get enough sleep. This affect your weight lost, your energy, your tolerance to stress! · Stick to a budget-Eliminate post holiday stress of over extending yourself, buy from the heart, not from a 'should'! · Learn to say no- To extra helpings, excess demands, attending everything; you will avoid resentment and overwhelm · Plan ahead- Menus, events, meal prep; Expect travel delays · Set differences aside- accept others as they are, set aside grievances, understand others may be stressed also! · Forget about perfection! Be realistic with your expectations, your time, and your energy. Expect things will not go perfectly, release control! | |
your Accessing AAAre I WhNature. What betteatters What matters to you?
What is your intention for this time of year? For me, this is a time to contemplate what is next, to connect deeper with others and to really appreciate the quietness of nature. I think it is especially important to be easy on myself by sleeping more, reading, and making yummy things in the kitchen! And of course spend time with my favorite guys (that's the husband and pooch!)
And packing. One of my intentions for myself this last year was to find a wonderful home. We found our home in the woods! I am very much looking forward to finally unpacking everything!
Are you living your intentions? What is important to you (maybe spending time with family, maybe relaxing with friends, maybe volunteer time to someone in need, having quiet)? What will it take to care for yourself by making sure these items are part of your life?
Find balance. Find yourself.
I invite you to discover what is important to you, to do something different to better align with that value.

| Words of Wisdom |
If you would like to change your feelings: ... set an intention for how you'd like to feel regardless of circumstances. For example, I want to consistently feel loving, peaceful, playful and prosperous. ... make a list of things you can do that help you feel the way you want. ... if you find yourself feeling different than your ideal, refer to your list and choose to do something that will change your energy.
