Training Tidbits
The Oklahoma Registry reviews training and college coursework completed by child care providers and verifies that this training meets objectives and standards as approved training.
Training that meets Registry requirements is divided into three tiers:
TIER I
- Short-term training that can be counted toward ongoing training requirements
- Does not have to be approved by the Oklahoma Training Approval System
Examples: Conferences, workshops, and in-service trainings (videos and on-site training with a guest speaker)
TIER II
- In-depth training that is a minimum of 4 hours and has been approved by the Oklahoma Training Approval System
- Tier II trainings are valid for 5 years
Examples: Child Care Careers courses, Early Education: Pathway to CDA courses, Specialized Training, the National Administrator's Credential, Director's Advanced Training, and Literacy in Action Online Training
TIER III
- Formal education through credit-bearing courses at accredited colleges and universities and courses at technology centers that transfer for credit to colleges and universities (must appear on college transcript)
- Courses must be in Early Childhood Education/Child Development (ECD/CD) or Administration/Management (Admin/ Mgmt) and be on the Approved Coursework List
- Tier III training hours do not expire
For a list of statewide training opportunities, approved Tier II training, and approved college coursework, access the CECPD website at www.cecpd.org or contact an Oklahoma Registry Advisor toll free at 888-446-7608 or locally at 405-799-6383. |

Registry FAQs

When I send my application for The Oklahoma Registry, can I use a training log to show my completed training? Because The Oklahoma Registry verifies training submitted, training logs are not accepted. Tier I and II training must be shown on certificates that include the participant's name, name of training, name of training source (who gave the training), date of training, and number of training hours. Tier II training certificates will also include the Training Approval System number. Tier III training must be shown on an official transcript, as well as any college degrees obtained. |

Applying to REWARD Oklahoma
(for Teachers/Family Child Care Providers)
For those interested in applying for the REWARD Oklahoma program there are several steps in the process. The first step is to apply to The Oklahoma Registry as well. The Professional Development Ladder on The Oklahoma Registry is a requirement to participate in REWARD Oklahoma as a teacher or family child care provider. The Oklahoma Registry reviews educational documents to determine a level on the Professional Development Ladder to place the participant. Once the participant is placed on the Ladder, REWARD Oklahoma can place the participant on the REWARD Oklahoma Scale, which determines the supplement amount that will be paid.
|
|
Expiration of levels:
Each level on the REWARD Oklahoma scale has an expiration date. This can range from 1 year to 4 years. After receiving the determined amount of checks, you must move up to the next level or be removed from the REWARD Oklahoma program. Level 10 on the Teacher/Family Child Care Home Scale expires in 1 year (two checks). It is the final level on the scale.
To move up to the next level, you must increase your education. Each level allows you to take classes at a modest pace to complete within the period allowed.
For example: You have 2 years to move from Level 4 (CDA or CCP) to Level 5 on the Professional Development Ladder. Level 5 requires 18 college credit hours for a Certificate of Mastery. The scale allows you to take one class a semester (including summer) to finish your Certificate of Mastery in 2 years.
When you are approved for the program and in every letter sent before your check, you will be reminded of your level expiration date. You must have finished the requirements for the next level to move up the scale, so you should keep that in mind when working on your professional development plan. Oklahoma Registry Advisors can assist you with questions about the educational requirements for each level. You may also qualify for a scholarship through the Scholars for Excellence in Child Care program. The Scholar Coordinator in your area can assist you. For more information on the Scholars program, go to www.okhighered.org/scholars. |

REWARD FAQs
| :: |
When will I get my check? The check process begins with confirming employment. For each participant's commitment period, REWARD Oklahoma confirms employment after the 14th of the month. After we determine that the participant is eligible, we request that the check be processed. This request is sent to the University of Oklahoma for processing and then mailed to each participant. The time line for the process is approximately 6 weeks from the end of the participant's commitment period. |
| :: |
Can I fax my Affidavit (for Verifying Lawful Presence in the United States)? We are unable to accept a faxed copy of the affidavit. We need the original signed and notarized affidavit for our records. | |
