Two Oakland Grantmakers to Address Estate Planners, July 9th, 2008 |
Bill Somerville, Executive Director of Philanthropic Ventures Foundation, and Marc Manashil, Executive Director of The Clarence Foundation, will be speaking to the Estate Planning Section of the Alameda County Bar Association on Wednesday July 9, 12:00-1:30 at 1999 Harrison Street, Oakland, 24th floor. They will present on two distinct aspects of philanthropy. Bill Somerville will focus on grassroots philanthropy while Marc Manashil will concentrate on international giving. Bar Association membership is not required to attend this event. Bill Somerville has made recent appearances in a variety of forums ranging from intimate book signings to a feature on KPIX's Evening News. His recently published book, Grassroots Philanthropy: Field Notes of a Maverick Grantmaker has generated interest from organizations which host meet-the-author events and/or want to hear Bill's presentation on "New Dimensions in Philanthropy." Future addresses are being scheduled at service clubs, professional association meetings, book stores, and community group meetings.
