A Plastic Surgeon's Perspective:

Focus on Men:  Current Anti-Aging Trends
DR. MICHELLE YAGODA,  NYC FACIAL PLASTIC SURGEON, AND CO-FOUNDER OF BEAUTYSCOOP

According to the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery survey, despite the bad economy, there was a 35% increase in all aesthetic procedures (surgical and non-surgical) for men in 2009 compared to 2008.   An increase of 69% was noted for non-surgical procedures in men.  The three most common procedures for men included Botox, hyaluronic acid fillers and chemical peels.  There was a 49% increase in men's usage of Botox; a 71% increase in hyaluronic acid fillers and a 47% increase in chemical peels for men.

3 canisters

1.  What are three most common summer beauty concerns for women?
We recently surveyed our 20,000 member community and found that most of them are concerned with their oily T-zone skin.  They want to find the right foundation with lightweight coverage, oil-control, long-wear and the shade match!  Others are interested in anti-frizz hair products to fight summer humidity or lip gloss/lipstick that is light and non-sticky.

2.  What are the three most common summer grooming concerns for men?
With men, grooming focuses year-round on getting a close shave without irritation, razor burn or razor bumps.  Perspiration control is an especially big concern for men during the summer as men can't wear sleeveless shirts to stay cool when at work.

3.  With so many products available, and perhaps just as many opinions, how can BeautyStat help consumers find the best products for their beauty and grooming concerns?
BeautyStat has a unique community on Facebook (www.facebook.com/beautystat) that allows members to connect with beauty experts and beauty insiders in real time, and they can also get advice from others who have similar beauty concerns.

4.  What role do you believe ingestible beauty products and nutritional supplements like BeautyScoop play in overall health and beauty?
We also recently surveyed our members on this topic.  Most said they would try it if the product tasted great and came at an affordable price.
