Autumn sunrises in Massachusetts - J. Reid |
Is anyone else finding it a little more difficult to wake up in the morning? I'm struggling because it's been overcast and a little gloomy the last couple of mornings. I'm also "rolling over" for a few additional minutes because the Autumn Equinox is just around the corner. Fall is here and the days are becoming increasingly shorter. The temperatures are dropping into the 50s more frequently. I typically hold out hope for an Indian or Saint Martin's Summer but only time will tell what the weather holds for us.
I'm hoping that the warmer and drier weather will hold up because there's so much that is happening and will happen in the coming autumn weeks at St. James and St. Lukes. It would be "cool" if we can accomplish these activities together with one another in Christ as well as in the sunlight and seasonally delightful temperatures despite diminishing daylight.
Paul, in his Epistle to the Philippians writes: If then there is any encouragement in Christ, any consolation from love, any sharing in the Spirit, any compassion and sympathy, make my joy complete: be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. (Phillipians 2: 1-4)
May God provide us the energy that we need to roll out of bed, greet the day, and gracefully welcome opportunities to share in the Holy Spirit's presence. May our hearts prompt us to come together in Christian love, and humbly look for opportunities to spend time with other people in our parishes and neighborhoods as autumn arrives.
Please take a look at the calendar of events as well as other possibilities to gather with one another and share in the life of your church and homes. 'Look forward to saying hello to you soon! Blessings Along The Way, Jim+
