At Farnsworth, David was an integral part of teaching the STARBASE curriculum - a hands-on curriculum for teaching science, technology, engineering, and math.

An entrepreneur, David took a break from education in 2005 to start his own company, SPI Janitorial. David recently renewed his teaching certificate in the state of Nebraska and also recently agreed to a part-time STARBASE teaching job in Salina, Kansas.

David resides in Omaha, Nebraska, with his wife, Laura, and his children - Jada, Julia, Jonathan, and Jase.

"My career in education started at Edison High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I was hired to work with students that were 'at-risk' of dropping out. My primary responsibility was to keep these kids in school (and off the streets) and get them to graduate. Since Edison was a violent 'gang school,' I chose to use Peer Mediation as a vehicle. So, after completing the training, I re-wrote the curriculum into a classroom model and approached the administration with my idea. I selected the roughest, toughest 'gang banging' kids in schools and enrolled them into my semester- long, elective class.

I became notorious for scrapping together any pieces of computers, LCDs, projectors, etc. I could get my hands on. Within 3 years, these very same rough, tough, 'gang bangers' were leading conflict resolution session and facilitating school-wide peer mediation trainings. Technology has been an crucial part of my classrooms every since. Using technology in addition to helping other teachers use technology in the classroom is my joy."
