Enlighten October 2009

The last day to enter eInstruction's third annual video contest was November 11th, and we've got four entries from Nebraska. You can view and rate them now, but voting for the finalists starts on November 17th. Until then, view and rate them, so we can have more then one finalist! Finalist voting will only be open for 6 days, so be sure to stop in at www.eimakeover.com on November 17th to vote for your favorites!

Description:
"Estudias" is the Spanish word for "studies." Through our studies we are able to grow in knowledge. Technology can be an important part of helping facilitate this process. A special thanks to Gina (one of our high school students) for lending her vocal talents for the video. Enjoy!

Gotta Get Get (This entry has a Clickers at Work sign in it that some of you may recognize!)

The Title says it all, Gotta Get-Get is the underlying statement, We NEED MORE TECHNOLOGY & want eInstruction to help. The students song Parody is to "BOOM BOOM POW", by the Black-Eyed Peas. The song provided the beat & we had a blast creating this song video showing why we "Gotta, Get-Get" more technology now.

Mrs. Schott's 23 sixth grade students at Burwell Elementary all played an integral role in the productions of this video. Singing to the tune of Billy Joel's 80's hit, "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me," the students proclaim the necessity of technology in the classroom. As the video depicts, money is our biggest obstacle in keeping up with the advancement of technology. Ignorance is our Enemy! If we aren't exposed to the technological tools available, then we are doing a disservice to our students. The students went to great lengths to make this video production a success by traveling after school to shoot a clip on location, by lying in a pile of real money, and even by re-enacting the branding of a calf with the eInstruction logo. We hope that you enjoy watching our video as much as we did making it! Thank you to eInstruction for the opportunity!

Description:
Third graders show how "alive" a classroom becomes by going from a stack of worksheets to using TI-15 calculators, SmartBoards, etc. Join the Brownell-Talbot "Addams Family" as they snap away into the 21st century.

Prizes will be awarded in three categories: Grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12. The three grand prizes include an Interwrite DualBoard, an Interwrite Mobi classroom system, a 32-pack CPS Pulse student response system, ExamView Assessment Suite, ExamView Learning Series, and professional development. Finalists will be selected by November 10, 2009, and winners will be announced in December.

This year's video contest is being sponsored by Dell, Study Island, Texas Instruments, SP Controls, FableVision, and 3M.
