Greetings!
|
|
Thanksgiving (such a sneaky holiday) has already crept upon us again. Where does the time seem to go?
We've been busy around Engaging Technologies. Cathy has
done an excellent job revamping the website. Check it out and see how Engaging Technologies is
continuing to try to provide you with the best support materials you need to be
successful in the classroom.
We've got a lot going on this month. Be sure and vote for our state video contestants, and send us your ideas for our next
"clickerwear" shirt! With all that's going on, you can even stay caught up with us through our new Facebook and Twitter pages.
As always, please let us know how we can
continue to work with you all across the area. We look forward to hearing
from everyone.
Sincerely, Dustin Frank

WANTED: Conference Scribes for the State Ed. Conference
|

If you are attending the State Education Conference next week, November 18-20, at the LaVista Conference Center/Embassy Suites,
...would you be willing to share your notes from each session with others?
...would you like to listen to the conference sessions you can't attend?
Be a Conference Scribe!
What is a Conference Scribe? A Conference Scribe uses the amazing Livescribe Pulse Smartpen to record workshop and breakout sessions during the conference day and agrees to
take notes during the sessions he/she attends. The notes will have an audio
recording of the session linked to the handwritten notes.
At the end of the day, the Conference Scribe agrees to return the pen to the Engaging Technologies booth for the notes and audio to be uploaded to a public website where all conference attendees can listen to the presentation as the notes are handwritten.
No, we won't critique your handwriting and pass judgments on your note-taking skills. Most importantly, you will be recording sessions for those conference attendees who have not yet figured out how to clone themselves and be in two sessions at one time!
I'm ready! How do I sign up?
If you are interested in being a Conference Scribe for Thursday of the
conference next week, we will have a limited number of pens available. If interesting in participating as a Conference Scribe, please inquire at the Engaging Technologies booth early
Thursday morning!

Exciting Things Taking Place At Our Blog
|
More and more of our site updates will be appearing on our blog, as we have found it the most efficient way of getting Engaging Tehnologies updates out to as many people as possible. All blog posts will automatically update Facebook and Twitter, so you can follow us anywhere! If you haven't visited lately, check out the blog posts on the left. We posted some exciting things last week, including the latest software downloads out from eInstruction. We were also really excited to share the stories of Julie Stallings and Karen Dux of Fairbury, Nebraska and their experiences with the Livescribe Pulse Pen. On the blog, you will certainly be inspired after reading Karen Dux's success story about one of her middle school students with the Livescribe Pulse Smartpen. You can also read about Julie's experiences allowing a different student to take notes and record the lecture daily and then posting the notes on her class website for her geometry students. You can also check out Livescribe on Oprah and a listen to a sound comparison of Livescribe up against other digital recorders at a keynote presentation. If you haven't already, get us in your RSS reader, become an ET Facebook fan or follow us on Twitter to get the latest updates first! |

| Educator Pricing on Livescribe Pulse Pen Saves You Money |
The Livescribe Pulse SmartPen has made waves in the classrooms and we hope you checked out what Julie Stallings and Karen Dux have done with the pen in their classrooms!
Although the Livescribe smartpen can be purchased at retail stores like Target, Best Buy, and Amazon, you will get a much better deal if you take advantage of the special educator's pricing that we can offer you as the exclusive K-12 Livescribe Pulse Smartpen providers in Kansas and Nebraska. Educator Pricing is sold in published bundles that throw in some extras that the retail market does not - styluses, neckstraps, black lined journals, black leather cases, education binders, storage pouches, teaching strategy guides, and staff development. The clip on the leather pen case and the neckstrap make it very convenient for educators to just wear the pen around their neck. We've broken out the price of an individual pen from our most basic 4GB education package belo w and compared it with retail prices. It's not quite an even comparison, because the retail packaging does not includes styluses and neckstraps, which are included in the educator bundle, but it is as close to an even comparison as we can come. Educator Pricing - Introductory Basic Bundle - $1799.55 1 Introductory Basic Bundle includes:- 10 4GB Pulse smartpens
- 10 A5 notebooks
- 10 Livescribe Desktop software
- 10 3D recording headsets

- 10 Basic smartpen cases
- 20 Black fine point ink cartridges

| Excellent Nebraska Entries in eInstruction's 3rd eImakeover Video Contest |

The last day to enter eInstruction's third annual video contest was November 11th, and we've got four entries from Nebraska. You can view and rate them now, but voting for the finalists starts on November 17th. Until then, view and rate them, so we can have more then one finalist! Finalist voting will only be open for 6 days, so be sure to stop in at www.eimakeover.com on November 17th to vote for your favorites! We're excited to announce our four contest entries from Nebraska. Here they are:Estudias
Created by Father Mark Cyza from Nebraska City, NE
Category: 6-8
Description:
"Estudias"
is the Spanish word for "studies." Through our studies we are able to
grow in knowledge. Technology can be an important part of helping
facilitate this process. A special thanks to Gina (one of our high
school students) for lending her vocal talents for the video. Enjoy!Gotta Get Get (This entry has a Clickers at Work sign in it that some of you may recognize!)
Created by Brandi Fleming from Columbus, NECategory: 9-12
Description:
The
Title says it all, Gotta Get-Get is the underlying statement, We NEED
MORE TECHNOLOGY & want eInstruction to help. The students song
Parody is to "BOOM BOOM POW", by the Black-Eyed Peas. The song provided
the beat & we had a blast creating this song video showing why we
"Gotta, Get-Get" more technology now. It's All Technology (This entry includes one of our new "Clickerwear" t-shirts! See if you can find it!)
Created by Joy Schott from Burwell, NE
Category: 6-8
Description:
Mrs.
Schott's 23 sixth grade students at Burwell Elementary all played an
integral role in the productions of this video. Singing to the tune of
Billy Joel's 80's hit, "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me," the students
proclaim the necessity of technology in the classroom. As the video
depicts, money is our biggest obstacle in keeping up with the
advancement of technology. Ignorance is our Enemy! If we aren't exposed
to the technological tools available, then we are doing a disservice to
our students. The students went to great lengths to make this video
production a success by traveling after school to shoot a clip on
location, by lying in a pile of real money, and even by re-enacting the
branding of a calf with the eInstruction logo. We hope that you enjoy
watching our video as much as we did making it! Thank you to
eInstruction for the opportunity! We Use Technology (snap, snap)
Created by Brownell-Talbot from Omaha, NE
Category: K-5
Description:
Third
graders show how "alive" a classroom becomes by going from a stack of
worksheets to using TI-15 calculators, SmartBoards, etc. Join the
Brownell-Talbot "Addams Family" as they snap away into the 21st century.Prizes will be awarded in three categories: Grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12.
The three grand prizes include an Interwrite DualBoard, an Interwrite
Mobi classroom system, a 32-pack CPS Pulse student response system,
