Greetings!
|
Wow, what a response at NETA! Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth; NETA was
FANTASTIC. Our booth was rockin' and rollin' from 30 minutes before the
floor opened to the very closing session! It was great to see so many
familiar faces and also new folks that were so excited about the
clickers. The new Mobi tablet really blew people away when they could
actually see it in action and realize the full power of the full size boards
right in their hands at a fraction of the cost. (After NETA was over, we were also thrilled to hear that a reviewer from Tech & Learning had written that the Interwrite Mobi was the best interactive tablet so far - see the blog post!) Although we were totally
exhausted and basically collapsed at show's end, it was great to see teachers
excited about CPS and the Mobi, and to hear the great success stories from
all across the state! Keep up the great work and feel free to send us any
of your clicker stories from the trenches. We'd love to hear them!
Sincerely, Dustin Frank

Many Thanks for a Great Time at NETA 2009!
|
We've got a long list of THANK YOUs to say to many people who made NETA such a great time!
First, we'd like to say a big THANK YOU to all of our presenters at
NETA 2009. There were some great
presentations, and we know that many people put a lot of time and effort into
sharing the benefits of clickers with their peers. Many thanks to Gregg and Kim Robke, Joel Bednar, Ann Feldmann, Patricia Maas, Karen Dux, Julie Stalling, Cindy Stalder, Glena Withers, Angela Ford-Davis, Molly Aschoff, and Candyce Peitz, Second, many thanks to the organizers of the NETA conference. It was a real treat to have the conference at the new LaVista Conference Center!
Finally, thanks to those of you who stopped by the booth. It was great to see the wonderful turnout from all over the state! The clicker WARNING signs were a huge hit. They were all
gone on the very first day, so consider yourself lucky if you picked one up! It's exciting to think about how many clicker users there are across the state of Nebraska and in the surrounding area. We hope we'll see even more of you next year at NETA 2010!

Make Your Searching More Effective
|
If you are seeking out new resources for use with your interactive whiteboard or tablet, Flash files are great to use to get draw students' attention.
Here is a little tip that you can use to narrow down your search for flash files or other specific file types...
In the search box, enter: topicname filetype: swf. For example, if I wanted to find a flash file over the water cycle, I would enter in the search box: watercycle filetype:swf.
Also, if you are looking specifically for PowerPoint presentations, enter ppt as the file type, i.e. watercycle filetype:ppt.

What Reform Will You Bring About With Your Stimulus Funds?
|
We've talked with several educators and administrators in the last couple of weeks about the coming spending of stimulus funds stemming from The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). These funds provide educators with an unprecedented opportunity to invest in improving teaching and learning in the classroom. As I stayed up late one night pouring over stimulus package websites,
PowerPoints, and documents, I became more and more excited. What excited me most was the simple fact that eInstruction's product outcomes parallel ARRA stimulus guidelines that emphasize data-driven instruction, engaging at-risk and special education students, technology enhancement, quality assessments, strengthening early learning programs, and increasing student learning and teacher effectiveness. Each piece of our classroom suite of products fits so nicely into the areas of reform that it just reconfirmed for me the importance of our products in the classroom. eInstruction products are a short-term investment with long-term results.
When used correctly, these products are not just neat toys to make learning fun, they are research-proven tools that will actually improve instruction and change the dynamics of the classroom. Many times, however, due to limited funds, these products are checked out through the library or on a traveling cart, and that is not the most effective way to implement these learning tools. To be used most effectively, a teacher must have daily access to the tools so they can be used for formative assessment and instant data on a daily basis. Couple that with intensive professional development on instructional strategies and quality assessments, and we are certain that these tools will provide the results that administrators and state departments will want to see to ensure further funding opportunities from the ARRA. It is our hope that the pulse of stimulus money will provide schools with an opportunity to provide a complete classroom package to individual classrooms so that teachers will have access to the equipment bundle on a daily basis. We know that you have probably been deluged with information and requests concerning stimulus funds, but we hope you will take a minute to download our eInstruction and Stimulus Funds flyer to see just how each eInstruction product fits into the four essential areas of the State Fiscal Stabilitization Funds of the ARRA. We would also be glad to set up a meeting to answer any questions or to discuss the best way to implement the eInstruction suite of products to get the most classroom reform for your dollar. Valorie Loomer, a Certified Special Education Professional and eInstruction Vice President, has also provided
a PowerPoint with a detailed, product-by-product description of how each of our products empowers teachers, school leaders,
and district administrators to accommodate and support the progress of students with special needs. See it here...You can also keep up with the latest information regarding Kansas stimulus funds and Nebraska stimulus funds by clicking on your respective state. We want to see classrooms changed for the better, and we are excited about the opportunities that the stimulus package will provide to schools in Kansas and Nebraska and across the country. Please let us know how we can help you to accomplish the goals for your school buildings.

MindPoint Quiz Show and ExamView
|
We recently got the question below posed to us through our website from Anaya in Texas.
Q: I have recently purchased a set of CPS response pads, and
have used them with the Math MindPoint Quiz Show. I'm interested in know if there are other
Quiz Shows in other subject areas, science? social studies? I teach 5th grade and my students and I LOVE
the QuizShow.
I'm also not familiar with ExamView. Could I get more information and how I can
use it to benefits my students learning needs? A: In case you haven't seen it in action, MindPoint Quiz Show is a game that transforms students into contestants by presenting ExamView® content
in a game show format.
Instructors can assess students while the Quiz Show host (while throwing out funny comments and a little trash-talk) directs the
game. Students receive instant feedback on their answers, and teachers receive instant feedback on their students' performance! Teachers can view results by state standard, topic, or learning objective. Quiz Show is
designed for elementary and middle school students; Quiz Show SE
appeals to high school students and older.
To answer Anaya's question, MindPoint Quiz Show will work with any ExamView file, and there are
over 6,400 textbooks that come with ExamView. The Quiz Show program simply
reads the ExamView files, so there are many possibilities. Simply open your ExamView question bank in Quiz Show, and you are ready to go!
