Greetings!
This week we are pleased to announce the addition of two fantastic design sources and fill you in on the latest design news. Get out of the summer's heat and log on to www.theredvault.com to find some hot items from the cool comfort of your home!
AREA
5600 Kirby Dr. Suite N-5, Houston, TX. (713) 668-1668
Shopping at AREA is always a wonderful experience. Whether you are looking for your own home or for a fabulous gift, AREA has it all! Owner Don Connelly opened this business back in 1995. Since then, the showroom and business have grown and has a great following. Don also offers interior design services, which keep him fairly busy to date. Store manager Daniel Cuellar keeps the shop filled with the best inventory and it always looks fantastic. Together, Don and Daniel both keep on top of the latest design trends and it is evident throughout the showroom. Plan on spending some time here. There is a lot to take in - sumptuous upholstered furniture, a wide mix of fine art, lamps, lighting, and a large selection of glassware, gifts, art books, and accessories. The shop is beautifully laid out and the vignettes will inspire you. We are currently uploading their inventory, so check back at TRV in the next few days to view their offerings.

Imago Dei

Houston: 713-466-9990 Austin: 512-705-6005
Imago Dei is one of Houston's finest art studios and a favorite with the best designers around town. Their list of services is as impressive as the art they create, from breathtaking murals, trompe l'oeil treatments, to custom mosaics and Venetian plaster. The talented staff members are true artists in every sense of the word. Their work is something to behold and to really appreciate their expertise; you have to see it up close! The attention to detail and the quality of their work is reminiscent of the craft from days gone by. The artists from Imago Dei can transform any space from drab to absolutely stunning. We are privileged to have such a fine art group here in Houston. If your home is in need of a quick pick me up, consult with Imago Dei. You will be happy you did.

Metro Retro Furniture
405 Preston Rd., Pasadena, TX. 713-473-0000. www.MetroRetroFurniture.com

Mid Century Modern
2215 Washington Ave., Houston, TX. 713-521-3030
Metro Retro owner Joe Marcinkowski got into the Bauhaus furniture business quite by accident. It was more than a decade ago, now, that his Clear Lake condo burned, forcing him and his wife, Laura, to make a fresh start. That's when Joe started collecting furniture and other items to furnish his new home. And he kept collecting and kept collecting until he had twice as much as his home could handle. So, with a less than thrilled wife and furniture up to his ears, he started selling some of it on eBay. Those first sales turned into more, and now Joe has grown his online-only business to include a massive 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Pasadena and a showroom right on Washington Ave. in Houston. They have one of the world's largest inventories of vintage furniture and accessories, with more than 3500 items from which to choose, and they have pieces to suit every budget. We stopped by their showroom this week to snap a few pictures of their stock and fell in love with one of their new items-a bold, architectural "artichoke" light fixture. See more pics from our trip below.

Kirby Antiques
2927 Ferndale, Houston, TX. (713) 520-1600 www.kirbyantiques.com and www.theredvault.com
Kirby Antiques features an exceptional collection of French and Italian Antiques. The collection also includes 17th through mid 20th Century furniture, and an interesting group of French Art Deco furniture, lighting and decorative objects. Owner Blake Karambis has been in the business for over twenty five years. He is not only knowledgeable when it comes to advising clients, but he also has a great sense of style and sophistication. He consistently brings in inventory and his shop is packed with great finds. On our visit this week, we came across these fantastic paintings. Decorative objects abound here, too. If you are shopping for something unique and special, Kirby Antiques is the place to find it.
