Greetings!
The Red Vault Team stopped by The Houston Design Center (7026 Old Katy Road, Suite 274 Houston, Texas 77024 ph. 713.864.4735) yesterday to visit with new and prospective dealers and designers. The weather was nice and we remarked at what a great setting the center is! Upon entry, you are greeted by a large pond with its fountain, ducks paddling along, and bed after bed of flowers. What a wonderful way to shop. There are quite a few showrooms here, offering everything from cabinetry, rugs, lighting, antiques, furniture and more. If you haven't been by and you love design, this is the place to shop. Check out the following showrooms there or on www.TheRedVault.com.

Pride of Persia (7026 Old Katy Road, Suite 164, Houston, Texas 77024 ph. 713.522.7870) has a fantastic selection of rugs that should not be missed by the serious buyer. This showroom features an extensive collection of antique and unusual Persian rugs from the cities, villages and tribes of Persia, along with select lines of new rugs from around the world. It is Houston's home for Hadji Jalili Revivals and Lapchi hand-woven carpets in silk and wool. Business partners Mehdi Abedi and Lisa Slappey have a sharp eye when it comes to purchasing these gorgeous and unique rugs. If you are in the market for the finest, you must stop by Pride of Persia. www.prideofpersia.com

Silk Arboretum (7026 Old Katy Road, Suite 157 Houston, Texas 77024 ph. 713.864.8733) is unfortunately closing its doors! After being in business for years, the owners want to retire. The 12,000 square foot showroom is stocked with beautiful silk plants and flowers and everything has been marked down heavily. This is a great opportunity to purchase for your home or office. You will also find planters, vases and accessories. Don't forget to check out the wonderful Christmas decorations. Silk Arboretum is known for these decorations and their elaborate arrangements. Stop by soon, as I am sure these items will go quickly!

Design House Inc. (7026 Old Katy Road, Suite 115 Houston, Texas 77024 ph.713 803.4949) was established by Connie LeFevre, a professional member of ASID and a licensed, registered interior designer in the state of Texas. The vast showroom has everything you need for your entire house-antiques, furniture, lighting, accessories, bedding and linens. If you can't find it here, you probably won't find it anywhere else. The great characteristic here is that all styles and periods are covered. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. Design House, Inc. has an in-house design studio and offers design services, too. There is a constant flow of new inventory and the showroom floor has some really nice vignettes to inspire you. Peruse some of their inventory at www.theredvault.com
Antiques and Interiors on Dunlavy (3845 Dunlavy Houston, Texas 77006 ph. 713.522.9669) has over 50 dealers and 12,000 square feet of great inventory. It is always fun shopping here because there is always something new and interesting. Due to the number of dealers, the mix of art, antiques and accessories covers it all. There are collections of silver, cut glass, and smalls that are really wonderful. Between the relaxed atmosphere and the staff, owners Mona, David and manager Ken, shopping here is always a pleasurable experience! There are new arrivals daily, so be sure to stop by soon.

Creative Flooring (2410 Bissonnet, Houston, Texas 77005 ph.713.522.1181) has a large selection of flooring to fit all your needs. They were one of the first showrooms to offer green flooring alternatives like seagraas, bamboo, hardwoods and cork. Owner Greg Manteris has just returned from a buying trip in California. The shop will soon be featuring these elegant wool rugs. They are hand-woven in Afghanistan and shipped from Turkey. The style is based on old Turkish design. They have been sheared down to being more like a flat weave, no pile rug. The muted tones are simply beautiful. They are reasonable priced and I am told that they don't stay in the showroom very long.

NEW TO THE RED VAULT
In addition to our weekly newsletter, a recent addition to the TRV staff, Katie McNew, is blogging about design and what's been happening around town. Katie joins the Red Vault editorial team as a recent import from Dallas, where she worked for four years as an editor at D Home, D Weddings, and D Beauty. She likes to mix classic pieces with modern lines and splashes of color, which is why her favorite piece of furniture is a deep steel blue, Asian-inspired chest with detailed brass hardware.

You'll find most of Katie's work on the Red Vault Blog (theredvault.blogspot.com), where she'll talk trends, fabulous finds, sales, and special events. Expect lots of pictures from her adventures in design, and always feel free to contact her at katie@theredvault.com.
Hope to see you at the upcoming events!
