The Red Vault
April Design Newsletter

Greetings!

I hope you all had a nice holiday weekend! The Red Vault team is back from a great trip to the Marburger Farm Antique Show/Round Top. There was so much to see that it always seems nearly impossible to absorb it all in just one day. We stopped by and visited with several of The Red Vault dealers that were displaying their merchandises. Carloads showed up early in the morning to get first dibs on the best goods.

We were greeted by Red Vaulter fan and follower Mary Kay Hunt. She is a pro when it comes to this show and she guided us through the vast display of wares that could have seemed daunting to the novice.

The dynamic duo of 2Lucy's (8719 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024, ph. # 713.304.0442) Tracey Shingledecker and Kelley O'Donnell showcased their unusual mix of European, eclectic, and industrial furnishings. Their booth was busy from the beginning of the show and up to the very end. Due to their personal styles, they have a great following.

The 2Lucy's have a knack when it comes to taking everyday objects and turning them into super decorating ideas. It's evident here where they took this crate and turned it into a very functional upholstered bench. Great statement!  Stop by 2Lucy's often, as they are constantly updating their inventory.

Marshall Lee of Marsh Garden Decor, located at MAI in Houston (8719 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas, 77024, ph. # 713.827.8087) and also in New Orleans (355 Iris Ave., Ste D, New Orleans, LA 70121 504-849-0133) www.marshgardendecor.com has a style that is genteel and serene and his beautiful architectural and garden pieces could easily fit into any interior or landscape design. They evoke a period of times passed.

An unexpected find are these antique chairs, cleverly outfitted with a modern twist.

Eclectic Architecturals (1201 Champion Way, Longview, Texas, 75604, ph. # 903.234.0016)  Sharon and David Cox set up a booth that covered the full range of decorative styles and periods.

They really know how to bring some of the best items, large and small, to these shows. Eclectic Architecturals has everything from stunning architectural elements to one-of-a kind antique chairs, tables, and armoires.

The varied array of offerings here is just a glimpse into their collection.

You can visit their vast 11,000 square foot showroom or shop at www.earchitecturals.com and www.theredvault.com

Joy Jenkins (ph. # 940.230.0529 and www.theredvault.com) is constantly pulling out the stops!

Joy Jenkins and Mary Kay Hunt

Every time we visit her at shows, she has several new designs that she has created. This pair of shell embellished mirrors is truly fantastic!

There is a surreal, yet wonderful feeling, about her crafted goods. She has been expanding her designs to include all types of lighting, decorative objects, and furnishings. She welcomes custom commissions, so if you have a special request, give her a call.

The Red Vault team took note of the upcoming design trends and this is what we spotted. Industrial seems to still be the crowd favorite! Clever and cutting edge, these tables and lamps are a show stopper.

Eclectic elements abound. Cool and funky, these curious pieces can stand alone in any setting. From the shell decorations, used for marriage dowries and barter, to these way out, yet comfortable leather chairs, you will be sure to make a personal statement all your own.

Bold color seemed to be popping out all over the place.  Just in time for your summertime decorating. These pillows, chairs, and sofa can breathe life into any lackluster setting! The striking colors and ethnic type-prints are a refreshing change from the muted tones of these past several years.

Mirrors of all shapes and styles were all over the map! Always a staple when decorating, mirrors are a must have. This plow disc mirror was brilliant, as were these other industrial inspired pieces, too. There was an abundance of time worn antiques, as well as eclectic and unusual.

Later this week, we will be sending you dealer and designer updates, along with coming events and the latest design news.

Until then,

Happy shopping!

Etienne
