Greetings!

The Antique and Design Guy
This is one of our favorite shops in Houston.  The Antique and Design Guy (1726 Westheimer Road, Houston Texas, 77098 ph. # 713.373.1398) owner, Joe Mosichuk,  is always on a hunt for the most unique and one-of -a -kind items and it shows  in his packed shop. You can find everything here from antique lighting, fantastic art, contemporary furnishings, and loads of accessories. The interesting thing is that all styles and periods are covered here.  You would be hard pressed not to find something that you just can't live without! You could seriously deck out your whole house from this one location. Make sure you have plenty of time to shop here because there is so much great stuff to see.

Creative Flooring
These rich "antique" reproduction rugs are a sure win for designers and decorators alike. They are so well made and are a bargain, considering the cost of a true antique- a fraction of the real deal! Creative Flooring (2110 Bissonnet Street, Houston, Texas, 77005, ph. # 713. 522-1181) owner Greg Manteris has a keen eye for the fine and refined and is always up on the latest trends in the flooring market.  He and his "design smart" staff can assist you in finding the perfect rug for any setting in your home or office. They also specialize in the latest fashion from carpet, wood and natural flooring products.

Custom Creations
I stopped by the showroom/workroom of Custom Creations (1200 Missouri Street, Houston, Texas, 77006, ph. # 713.522.5833) this past Tuesday. I was greeted by the charming owner Ceci de la Torre and she gave me a tour of the business. Custom Creations has been in business for over 30 years. I was pleasantly surprised! The showroom is filled with their custom upholstered sofas and chairs, as well as dining tables, side tables, lamps, and art. Whites, crèmes, and soft earth tones are an overriding theme here and the attention to detail in their work is quite evident.  Call to make an appointment to view this gorgeous collection.

Shabby Slips by Renea Abbott
Houston's interior designer" it" girl, Renea Abbott, is at it again.  She is one of three designers that have beautifully outfitted an apartment at luxury highrise One Park Place in Discovery Green. Her use of deep rich colors and bold print patterns make this unit a stunning design showcase. Take a tour and cast your vote until May 2nd..  At her shop Shabby Slips, (2304 Bissonnet, Houston, Texas, 77005, ph. # 713.630.0066), new shipments have arrived from France and Italy.  Stop by soon because these fine pieces are already flying out the door!

Mecox
Mecox (3912 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas, 77027, ph. # 713.355.2100) has over thirty new pieces on the floor, including these fabulous Texas "Sunset Orange" leather slipcovered club chairs.  They are big and comfortable, with an inviting look about them. Notice the cool brushed stainless steel legs.  They can also be ordered in a variety of other colors. This vast, yet wonderful showroom, has some of the most interesting selections in Houston and manager John Tucker, keeps this place stylishly stocked and current with lots of fine finds. Stop by the shop or visit them at www.mecoxgardens.com.

Laura U Collection ( 1840 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas, 77098, ph. # 713.373.1397) presents the Third Annual Lilith's Spring Art Exhibition on April 22, from 6-9 p.m., benefitting The DePelchin Children's Center.  View fantastic artistic works from Natalie Davis, Sarah Ashley Longshore and Wendy Wagner.
