As we mentioned last week we've added The Houston Design Center to our wonderful array of design sources on TRV plus four of their individuals showrooms including Design House, Inc., Kitchen & Bath Concepts, Pride of Persia Rug Company and Silk Arboretum.  Our hats are off to Sheri and Grant Roane for the great support they give their showrooms and the outstanding educational programs and events they provide  the community.    If you haven't been to The Houston Design Center, you've missed out.  They house more than 35 showrooms and design firms and are a complete source for the finest in interior furnishings and furniture, unique fabrics, wall and floor coverings, lighting, art, antiques, accessories, florals and fixtures for home or office.  Check out their calendar at www.houstondesigncenter.com or on www.theredvault.com for a great list of events. 


A few of The Houston Design Center showrooms include....

Design House, Inc. (7026 Old Katy Road, Suite 115, Houston, Texas, 77024 ph# (713) 803-4949) was established by Connie LeFevre, a professional member of ASID and a licensed, registered interior designer in Texas. The showroom of nearly 10,000 sq ft., offers a vast array of furniture, antiques, art, accessories, lighting, fabric, as well as custom pieces and unique selections from around the world. The showroom's ceiling is a showcase of chandeliers of all styles, new and old, while the walls are covered with all types of art, mirrors, and accessories. Kitchen & Bath Concepts (7026 Old Katy Road, Suite 148, Houston, Texas 77024 ph# (713) 528-5575)  is a family run business since 1986. Peggy McGowen, ASID and CMKBD, along with her daughter, Micqui McGowen, CMKBD, and staff, offer some of Houston's finest custom kitchen and bath cabinetry, fixtures, appliances, and hardware. Their combined years of expertise bring an unparalleled level of professionalism to your design projects.  They also offer consultation services, space planning and installation services. Pride of Persia Rug Co. (7026 Old Katy Rd., Suite 164, Houston, Texas 77024 ph# (713)522-7870) , www.prideofpersia.com,  has a beautiful showroom in the Houston Design Center. This shopfeatures an extensive collection of antique and unusual Persian rugs from the cities, villages and tribes of Persia, along with select lines of new rugs from around the world. It is Houston's home for Hadji Jalili Revivals and Lapchi Hand-Woven Carpets in Silk and Wool. On Tuesday, March 30th, Pride of Persia presents "Rice Night" at their HDC showroom. This event celebrates all the wonderful relationships owners Mehdi Abedi (Ph.D. Anthropology '88) and Lisa Slappey (Ph.D. English '01) have established through their alma mater- Rice University.  Learn more about them at their www.prideofpersia.com  and www.theredvault.com

Silk Arboretum (7026 Old Katy Road, Suite 157, Houston, Texas 77024 ph# (713) 864-8733 ), www.silkarboretum.com) manufactures permanent trees and plants, and creates and designs custom floral arrangements. Claudette & Frank De Dera have been located at HDC for 26 years in  a 12,000 square ft. showroom, with hundreds of plants, trees, exotic flowers, and exquisite floral arrangements to select from. Whether you purchase a single plant or an entire "forest", they offer one of the largest selections in the industry. Silk Arboretum also specializes in wonderful Christmas trees, wreaths and ornaments. Their skilled staff can assist you with all of your "plant design" needs! 

In addition to all that The Houston Design Center offers, you will find more treasures at Antiques & Interiors on Dunlavy. 

At Antiques & Interiors on Dunlavy (3845 Dunlavy, Houston, Texas 77006),  decorative book dealer, Kay Gilbreath, also known as "The Book Lady", specializes in an amazing selection of leather bound books and eclectic accessories. If you need to find that special item, Kay is the woman to see.  They also have Ken Bernstein, of "Ex domus", whose specialty is variations of country French, from formal to rustic is also there.  He carries a wide range of antiques, reproductions, and beautiful accessories. Please stop by the showroom and check out the fantastic merchandise from all the dealers at Antiques & Interiors on Dunlavy.
