six more weeks of winter!
(Feb. 2, 2010 ) Nantucket's answer to Punxsatawney Phil, Quentin the Quahog, squirted to the left just after noon today, joining his groundhog pal in predicting six more weeks of winter.
As punishment for his prediction, harbormaster Dave Fronzuto ate Quentin raw. As per tradition, he would have done the same even if he'd been the harbinger of good news.

Just a week after Phil and Quentin made their prognostications - the east coast is digging out of from Snowmageddon II (thank you Mr. President) Makes you think maybe Mother Nature knows a bit more, than she is letting on. Fortunately - with the exception of some cold temperatures and some whipping winds - Nantucket has mostly been spared the great depths of snow. (last night turned out to be a very few slushy inches that is now solidly frozen!)
But for those of you that are snow bound, I have good news! Whether it be six, eight or twelve weeks - spring is coming! (and I have it on very good authority from my dog, "Nantucket Jack" that summer will eventually follow)
That makes this a perfect opportunity to do a little summer dreaming. (walking down warm sandy beaches instead of slipping along frozen sidewalks) Remember the last time it stayed light until 9PM?
We are happy to report that we have teamed up with the folks at Expedia and Travelocity to give you yet another avenue to make your booking on-line. We think these are great resources(among others)to research your trip and compare B&B's, hotels and resorts.
In fact, while this is far from a "lowest rate guarantee" ( there are a good number of factors that go into the rates that we offer). If you find a lower advertised rate at a competitively similar (or better) property on Nantucket, let us know and we'll see if we can find you a better rate if you stay with us! No fine print, no legal mumbo jumbo, just our commitment to you. Drop us a line at reservations@nantucketinn.net and put " match this!" in the subject line and we'll see what we can do.
So what are you waiting for! ("Ted the Turtle" just put his head back in his shell meaning eight and a half seconds of bright sunshine on June 1st!)
Cheers!
