DON'T FORGET TO STOP
AND SMELL THE ROSES?
Ok, so we are going to go off topic this month. ( sure, we want you to call us and make a reservation for the upcoming season. But you knew that already!)
No, it's been one heck of a winter. When we closing up last fall, things were getting a little bit dicey. But who in their right mind would have expected all this. And to top it all off, now we are having to deal with pirates! (seriously, pirates?)
To be sure, we know full well that many people are suffering and this is in no means meant to minimize that pain. But every once in a while, you need to stop, take a step back and smell the roses! Or as I have heard said on more than a few occasions -- perform a personal reset! Check out this great story from Nancy Gibbs in the current issue of Time magazine.
No, maybe you can't afford that big fancy dinner out - but what could be more fun than pizza and videos with friends. Fancy boutiques a bit too extravagant these days? Find some amazingly hip clothes at vintage shops. And even at our great rates, Nantucket might not be the right vacation spot for 2009. That's ok (this year)! Great memories can still be made at a family picnic in the backyard! The island has been here a long time and we are not going anywhere soon -- so if we don't see you this year, we'll see you in 2010! (do we need to shake on that?)
In the meantime, here a few odds and ends that we hope will bring a smile to your face. Some, you may have already seen, some are new and some, just too good not to visit again. Take from them what you want. Everyone finds their own inspiration. In the meantime, if you need us, you know where to find us.

 SOME GOOD NEWS
How many time have you heard, "how about some good news once in a while?" Well, Brian Williams and the good folks at NBC did just that with their "Making a Difference" segment. Viewers have submitted thousands of ideas and the best "good news" stories make it to air.

AUSTRALIAN OIL SPILL
As many of you may know, next week is Earth Day! Like everyone, we are concerned about the toll we, as a population , are taking on Mother Nature. So this year as we replace a large quantity of our in-room lighting we are also converting to energy efficient bulbs.

So if you haven't at least heard of Susan Boyle, you have obviously been lost at sea. Since being posted on YouTube on April 11, 2009, this video has been viewed over 16 million times! (be sure to check out the lyrics if you aren't already familiar with them)
I can't add much to what has already been said -- an unlikely but altogether pleasant outcome to what could have been quite a painful experience.
