Birthday Special
10-Week Cleansing Diet

1. Drink 4-6 glasses of water every day. Do not use tap water.

2. Eliminate dairy products, eggs, and sweets.

3. Eat only whole grains (brown rice, millet, barley, oats, quinoa, and so on), organic beans, lightly steamed organic vegetables and fruits, and minimal wild or free-range meats. Tempeh and tofu are excellent. Do not cook any grains with oil.

4. Use only olive oil for cooking. Use no more than 2 tablespoons of oil per day. Avoid butter or margarine.

5. Drink all the fresh vegetable and fruit juices you like.

6. Do not use salt. Other spices are okay, as are small amounts of tamari and soy.

7. Do not use any caffeinated drinks (except green tea), alcohol, or recreational drugs during the diet. If you are a heavy caffeine drinker, instead of stopping cold turkey, go from coffee to black tea to green tea over a one- to two-week period of time.

8. Eat fruits first and alone. They digest rapidly and, when eaten with other foods, are held in the stomach, where they can cause gas and intestinal upset.

9. Do not eat any fried foods.

10. Consider consuming a green drink each morning. Many of these are powdered and must be mixed into juice and blended.

  Internal Spring Cleaning

Detox Days

Spring marks a time of renewal, rejuvenation, and restoration. Buds burst from the soil. Birds build nests. This year consider freshening your internal system with a detox diet. Detox diets focus on regaining or maintaining physical and mental well-being.

People with headaches, premenstrual syndrome, low energy, sinus and nasal congestion, poor digestion, and bad breath often notice improvement with a detox diet. Joint pain, constipation, and weak hair, irritable bowel syndrome and acid reflux disease, as well as skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, tend to clear up with detox menus.

All detox diets exclude dairy products, as well as meats and poultry.  The more acidic your system, the more prone you become to disease.  By removing the main sources of toxic byproducts, detox diets also reduce inflammation in the body.

Doing a detox  gives your body a rest from the onslaught of contaminants in our food and promotes improved food choices. After the detox, many people opt to get a massage to complete the experience, rather than return to their previous states.

Hot Stone Massage

Basalt stones are heated, oiled and used to massage the major muscle groups in the body. The stones may also be placed at specific points on the back, in the palms of the hand, or between the toes.

The heat warms and relaxes the muscles, which allows the therapist to apply deeper pressure, if desired. The warmth of the hot stones improves circulation and calms the nervous system.

Why Do People Get Hot Stone Massage?

Many people find the warmth of the hot stones to be comforting and get it for relaxation. Hot stone massage is suited to people who tend to feel chilly or who have cold feet. It's also suited for people who have muscle tension but prefer a lighter massage. The heat relaxes muscles, allowing the therapist to work the muscles without using deep pressure.
