New Scheduling System at Healthy Habits
| Many of you have been hearing about a new software package that we will be implementing. Actually, I've been talking about it for so long you may have forgotten it already. In true Mike fashion, I have managed to make a 6 week project drag on for 4 months. But, this month should see it start up. It will put the room and trainer schedules online 24/7, and trainers will be able to access it, which means:
- trainers can manage their schedule online
- clients and trainers can request certain rooms for sessions
- clients can view the schedule to request sessions online
- trainers can answer such requests online
- both trainers and clients will automatically be sent reminders before each session
- sessions will be automatically deducted from client pre-pay packages, so you can see how many you have left and when payment is due for a new one
- you can pay for these packages online, automatically if you so choose

Willpower and Weight Loss
| A growing number of scientists are studying willpower, using new brain-mapping technology and other tools to understand it better. And it's no wonder why, since it is estimated that 40% of all deaths are attributable to poor self-regulation. Here are some of their thoughts, many of which are not yet accepted as truth, but are based on the emerging research. This was taken from the 3/5/12 Time Magazine article "Getting to No, the science of building willpower."
- Willpower is like muscle, in that you can strengthen it by using it more, but you can also overdo it, which weakens it.
- Willpower can be consciously developed and trained.

| News Of The Month | |
STARs OF THE MONTH are RW and PW. Again. PW has lost a pound a month in the last year and has gotten much stronger and fitter. RW has lost 10 pounds since the holidays and has broken the "Mendoza Line" for the first time in years. He gave up ice cream for Lent, and plans to stay well below his pre-Lent consumption after Easter. But he won't stop thinking about ice cream because "there's no calories in thinking."
SB has had a rough (kind of ) March. He forgot about Daylight Savings Time and I surprised him Monday morning! (nice to be retired, eh?) Then, after a fishing trip to the Caribbean (somebody had to go), he got a virus that won't go away. On the bright side, he lost 5# in 2 days. He really had to go!
LM is training for Iceland this summer - without the ice.
MattP is so strong he broke a rubber tube - fortunately without pain. Jeanne was late for the second time in 10 years - should I fire her as a client? I don't think so. Quote Corner JG: "I couldn't have done it without you!" RR: "I'm bored! Why did I want to retire?" Welcome new clients: DNew, HS, JK, EmC, DW and DA. Healthy Habits is on Facebook. You are all invited to be friends, and hopefully fans. In fact, it would be a big help if you would. Please click here to sign up.

Pilates Mat Class
| |

We are still trying to schedule a Pilates Mat Class on Mondays from 12 noon - 1pm. We have several people interested in trying it, and only need 1 or 2 more for the class to make. There will be a No Risk Demo class on Monday, April 9, at noon. If you want to continue, then you commit on a month - to - month basis at a cost of $85 a month. Call 684-1607 or email Mike@HealthyHabitsFitness.com to register for the Demo or ask questions. Space is limited to 5 students so register now.
Pilates is a core-focused strength and stretching workout that is a particular favorite of dancers and golfers, both of whom need speed, strength and flexibility. Pilates is hard but you don't necessarily sweat a lot, so it can be a great lunchtime workout. Linda will teach the class, students need to bring their own yoga mats, and class size is limited to 5 people so that you will get lots of individual instruction. Mat Class means that the class will mainly take place on floor mats, with your body providing most of the resistance, although some props may also be utilized.
