Survey
How do you measure progress of a movement? How do you identify the issues facing groups around the world?

You talk to a lot people. This month we're spotlighting the word about a survey that our good friends at the EC Institute are sending to over 10,000 people. The trends and statistics will be a catalyst in understanding where things need to go.

We also take a look at stories from TIME Magazine, ABC's Good Morning America , Newsweek and the C12 Group that are relevant to Business as Mission.

Last months newsletter feature on the Top 25 Business as Mission Books to Read this Summer received great feedback. Be sure to click on the link and catch up in case you missed it.

Live Like You Were Dying
Tim McGrawWhat a challenge. Sometimes it slips our mind that from the moment we were born we are heading down a path where everyone dies. We are all dying. Our bodies are slowly giving way and if it be 6 weeks, 6 months or 60 years from now this life will end. Not just for some, but for everyone.
How does our worldview change when we take that to heart?  Are we living every day like it was our last?
Richard Branson's Latest Venture: Entrepreneurs can help with Global Problems
Richard BransonWe hear it in so many different places... Sunday morning services, at work, in a book or here on this website. What you will hear is that encouragement to "live it" and not just talk about it.

That's what I love to much about connecting with entrepreneurs of Business as Mission companies. These guys are out there practicing what has been preached.
The Church in the Workplace :: Peter Wagner
Church in the Workplace"There's a gap between the once-a-week church and the church in the workplace. Creating Harmony between these two powerful forces allows believers in both realms to fulfill their God-given mandates. God's people make up the Church every day, not just on Sunday. On the other six days, we transform into the "extended church."
Vacationing like Brangelina :: Does volunteer tourism do good?
BrangelinaAs a business leader I sometimes get so entrenched in this idea of efficiency and effectiveness. It's a healthy tension ... One to walk between the idea of "building a self sustaining business" and a "ministry at all costs" attitude.

When I picked up this month's TIME Magazine I was curious to see an article debating the effectiveness of volunteer tourism. I was even more fascinated to see the article reference the short term missions as a long term predecessor to this movement.
The Parable of the Janitor and the CEO :: Buck Jacobs
JanitorThere once lived a janitor who worked for the same company for 40 years. He never rose above the position of janitor and never had anyone report to him. He never owned a home, never had an investment, never bought a new car. But he was a fine janitor. With the highest standards, he maintained all of the areas for which he was responsible.

Good Morning America Special on "God at Work"

Good Morning AmericaGood Morning America ran a story "God at Work". the first part of the story was a pretty good look at Chick-fil-a's corporate culture and their unabashed stance on integrating faith. The second half drifted into a more corporate look at other religions, and the laws regulating faith in the workplace. The clip is only 4 minutes long. You can view it and watch the story by clicking here.

Transform the World: Biblical Vision and Purpose for Business
In this book Swarr and Nordstrom aim to tear down the wall between "business" and "missions" (secular and sacred), and show in practical, step-by-step ways how to accomplish this by making business an opportunity to share Christ and fulfill the Great Commission. The case is based on both Scripture and practical considerations.
