1. the backward counting in fixed time units from the initiation of a project, as a rocket launching.

Business as Mission Book Cover
YWAM Publishing has teamed up with Michael Baer to release Business as Mission: The Power of Business in the Kingdom of God. Here's an excerpt from the publisher's site. "Like never before, Christian business leaders have the chance to play a pivotal role in transforming society and spreading the gospel. But seizing this opportunity requires thinking differently about God, about his kingdom, about his purposes in the world, and about business." In this book, Michael Baer guides business leaders in developing the vital characteristics of a kingdom business - the kind of business that will free them live fully integrated lives and lead organizations that significantly impact the world."

Often times people are looking for ways to get involved in business as mission. The biggest challenge is finding a specific, tangible opportunity to get involved with a business as mission company. Recently, we've decided to add another web developer to our team at Bluefish TV and The Rightnow Campaign. It reminded me that some people visiting the blog are probably looking for these types of job opportunities. Click on the full article to read a list of 3 job openings that we are looking to fill. In addition to these we are looking to hire a full time coach/placement rep that can help us lead our business as mission efforts at the rightnow campaign. If you are interested in applying, please email Felicity Tinker at felicity@rightnow.org.

At the end of last week I had the opportunity to catch up with some of the great guys over at Paradigm Engineering and Paradigm Publishing. I really enjoy hearing their heart for the business as mission movement. One of the things they mentioned is that they are planning on following up last years ICBMI (International Conference on Business and Mission Integration) conference with another business as mission gathering in 2007.
Over the past few weeks I've been exchanging some emails with Patrick Lai of the OPEN Network (recently featured as one of the 22 Business as Mission Catalysts to Watch in 2007). For those of you are not familiar with the OPEN Network, it is a group of about 85 active business as mission or tentmaking practitioners living in the 10/40 window. Most are business owners or are a part of a team that owns a business. According to Patrick, maybe 30% work for an expat or national firm. All have strong evangelism or discipleship or church planting objectives.
