VISUAL IMPACT=SALES
"The visual impact associated with a product or a
service can affect the way it is perceived and the level
of success it experiences in the marketplace. A
graphic designer is called upon to establish and guide
these perceptions with marketing and communication
skills that provide solutions to problems, communicate
messages, and sell products, ideas or people to a
chosen market through visually stimulating graphics."
The Art Directors Club of Washington, DC.

COVERS BEGGING TO BE CRACKED
|
|
Crack this cover -literally- as you fold back the
score next to the gromets used to bind this attractive
piece. Designed to be easily updated as new projects
are completed, or collated to target different
prospective clients. The cover invites clients both
through the transparent envelope and upon opening.

JUDGE THE BOOK BY ITS COVER
|
|
SHOWN ABOVE is a cover designed for Jim Urban's
new book "Up By Roots." Published by the
International Society of Aboriculture, it creates a
compelling reason to crack this 500 page text on
healthy soils and trees in the built environment.
People do judge a book by its cover. Good cover
design will make a book jump into the shopping cart.

AN INSIDE JOB
|
|
Some insides
View some of the insides-just as important as the
outsides. They should reflect strong principles of
design, such as balance and white space, and
address components such as color, type and images.
Page composition is one of the most important
features of graphic design. Presented here is a
spread from the Hopkins "Making Conections"
booklet (ABOVE) and (BELOW) from the 2007
FADICA annual report.

GOT YOU COVERED

A Public Face for Public Health
Displayed on the cover of this report for The Center for
Public Health and Human Rights at the John's
Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is a
powerful image by Shehzad Noorani. Quiet color and
type support this photo to compel the reader to open
his mind and the report. The Center was born of the
realization that human rights contexts can have
profound impacts on the health of individuals,
communities and populations, and that the powerful
tools of modern public health service can play critical
roles in understanding and mitigating these impacts.

THE IMPACT
|
|
Is Immediate
Again in this cover, beautiful photography mixed with
elegant design beckon the eye and hand to turn the
page to the inside cover and digest the salient
message displayed there. Both images and message
work together to describe the work of FADICA's
philanthropic community. Selling the message is as
important as selling the product.
