| Greetings! |
We had a busy and exciting fall this year. In September we finished the 1st house for kids and moved in. We then had a group from Indiana that came and put the roof on the 2nd house for kids, along with many other helpful projects. In October most of the board of Give Hope 2 Kids came down for an onsite meeting. Then Jason and I (Sarah) went back to the US for six weeks to re-connect with friends and family and say thanks.

| Celebrating Christmas -- Honduras Style |
 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone. This year we had a special treat for Christmas. We had the family of six sisters that we've been helping over for a sleepover on the 23rd and then we spent the 24th with them. We served the traditional Christmas foods of tamales and sandwiches for a big meal. We had fun cutting snowflakes, playing UNO, and doing a big outdoor hide-and-seek game.
In the picture here are all six girls with their father, Manuel. He bought them each a new outfit and pair of earrings for Christmas. Here they all are together, dressed up for Christmas. From the left: Grisel, Jenny, Manuel, Abi, Ruby, Areli, and Roxana.

| Our Construction Progress -- We've Come a Long Way Baby |
As we mentioned above, we are now living in the finished first house for kids. The second house will be finished in the next couple of weeks, once we pour the floor in the main room and finish the bathrooms. Also this fall we got a water purification system going, we added a bathroom to the office and the house that already existed on the property, and we just put the gates up to finish the fence running along the front of the land.  It is such a great feeling to finish these big projects. We've invested so much of our time into construction this year and it is wonderful to be finishing things. Next year our construction work will slow down. We will turn and put our focus on finishing the legal process to open Casa de Esperanza and bring in children.

While we are thrilled to be finally living on site at Casa de Esperanza, one downside is that we are a long way from a dependable internet service. We will do our best to return emails and keep our blog updated, but, at least for the next several months, communication to the US will be a challenge. This being said, we want to make an offer to all of you who have enabled us to minister here  in Honduras. We have produced a packet of information we are calling "Rewind 2008". It includes pictures and descriptions of the work we have been doing this year, video to show the houses being built, and it also talks about where we're headed in 2009. We want to send this packet out to anyone who wants to keep up-to-date with the ministry of Give Hope 2 Kids. If you have never received this annual update by mail, we most likely do not have your mailing address. If that's the case, please reply to this email right away, give us your mailing address, and let us know you would like to receive a copy. We would love to send it to you. |
| Where We're Headed in 2009 |
 With two houses built we are nearly ready to care for orphaned and abandoned children. .
We have three major goals for 2009 which are the following:
1). Find the "right" people to help us care for the children. We are hoping to find long-term caregivers for these kids, who will raise them like their own children. For this reason we need to find the right people and provide them with the right training.
2). Finish the legal process to open a home like ours in Honduras
3). Reach out to our community and get involved in local elementary schools.
During the next several months, we will focus our energy in these areas, doing our best to open Casa de Esperanza as soon as possible and to make a difference in the lives of children in our area.
