| Our US Visit |
|
We've spent the last two-and-a-half months traveling around the US, trying to connect with as many of you as possible. We drove over 7000 miles, making stops in Minnesota, Virginia, New York, West Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, and Wisconsin. We had a wonderful time seeing people and raising support to build Casa de Esperanza. We want to give a big thanks to everyone who welcomed us into their homes during our trip.
God constantly amazes us with how he provides. For the past two years we've grown 100% each year in the number of sponsors and in the donations they've given. Thus far we've been pledged enough for the first house and a half. We so appreciate the generosity of all our donors. Also, we encourage more of you to become financially involved in the future. Our needs are ever increasing as we build homes and begin taking in orphaned and abandoned children. |
| Keeping in Touch |
|
We wanted to inform you that we've updated our website recently. Once we return to Honduras we will do our best to keep everything current on the website and on the blog. Please check in with us every month and see how things are progressing.
We will have new stories, pictures, and videos of the building available on the blog. Also, we've started a new page where we will post current needs. If you are interested in giving towards a specific need, please check out this page.
If you are interested in receiving our bi-monthly prayer newsletters, you can sign up on our website. Just click on the yellow link to sign up for our newsletter, which is located on the bottom of every page. Once you've typed in your e-mail address, it will give you an option to sign up for the prayer newsletter along with this general bi-monthly letter. |
| Breaking Ground |
|
This corn field you're looking at is the first house site for Casa de Esperanza. This Monday, March 1st, we will break ground. We will be right in there with machetes, shovels, hammers, etc. working alongside some skilled Hondurans. Our plan is that we will prepare the foundation now and then a team visiting in April will get the walls up. We hope to have this first house finished in the summer, when we will commence building on the second house.
The houses we're building will be block houses with tin roofs, cement floors, and big windows for airflow. Everything will be really simple and basic, but it will seem like a palace to the kids who live there, compared to their prior experiences. Jason and I (Sarah) will be the first house parents in this home, as we get things established and set the standards for Casa de Esperanza. We are looking forward to bringing the first children home with us.
It is incredible to finally be here, building this home for orphaned and abandoned kids. This has been Jason's dream for sixteen years and it is really happening now. We so appreciate all of our friends and family that are behind us, making this possible. Thank you.
