Showing employee appreciation can be a simple gesture - it doesn't have to be monetary for employees to feel appreciated and recognized in the workplace. Below is an idea shared by the customer service department at an ophthalmic laboratory. Creating new, innovative employee appreciation programs such as this will improve overall morale, performance, and revenue!
The Motivational Duck

The customer service department at a large ophthalmic laboratory came up with an innovative way to show coworkers how much they appreciated their support throughout the year.

The customer service department passed out eight stuffed ducks to deserving coworkers in other departments with a note attached that said: "I know I'm just a duck, but someone thinks you're an eagle. Meet me in the lobby at 1:00."

In the lobby, reps created a duck pond - actually a small, water-filled tub with rubber ducks floating on top. When all eight honorees gathered at the pond, they turned in the stuffed animals for a chance to draw a duck from the pond. Each duck had a letter underneath indicating which prize each person won. Prizes included a variety of treats to sweeten their afternoon coffee break.

Each morning throughout the week, the stuffed ducks made an appearance on different desks in the building.

What a great way to break the winter doldrums!
