 Parker named advisor to State Commission
Sandy Parker, president and chief executive of the Rochester Business Alliance, has been named one of five special advisors to the New York State Commission on Property Tax created last week by Gov. Eliot Spitzer.

ATHENA Award winner announced
The Women's Council
of the Rochester Business Alliance presented its 2008 ATHENA Award to Dr. Ruth
Lawrence. Lawrence, a professor of pediatrics at the University of Rochester
Medical Center, received the award at the 22nd annual ATHENA Awards luncheon.

2008 local wage and salary surveys in progress
Each January, the Rochester Business Alliance conducts four local wage and salary surveys, which together collect data on more than 350 jobs, in order to provide members with the region's most comprehensive resource for benchmarking data.

Pallet Racking Hazards...A recent fatality in Ontario caused by the collapse of a pallet racking system has prompted the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) to issue a comprehensive hazard alert with several excellent suggestions.
