1st "Golf for Life" Classic
Special thanks to WAL*MART for hosting the 1st Celebrate Life Golf Classic co-sponosred by 7up /RC Bottling Company and Pepsi. Friday, May 9 was a great day of 156 golfers and volunteers a day on the greens at the Pacific Palms Resort Industry Hills Golf Club.

Free Mammogram Regardless of Age
Forum Medical Group in partnership with Privacy Wear will conduct free mammogram for any woman if you are under-insured, have no insurance, or low income. Greetings!
Thank you for being a supporter of Celebrate Life Cancer Ministry. Your thoughts, prayers, support to survivors, volunteer services and financial contributions make it possible to continue serving those touched by cancer.
Each week new cancer fighters reach out to Celebrate Life for encouragement and services. To fight this cancer battle it takes faith. Knowing that no matter how I feel, I am going to keep getting up and continue to do my best today. It takes strength to continue to eat when I don't feel like eating - especially without taste buds. It takes persistence to get up and go to the doctor's office sometimes every day. It takes courage to walk outside with no hair. It takes love to reach to others who have been touched by this thing called cancer.
To the caregivers - get your rest. To be the support a cancer fighter needs you must take care of yourself as well. Often the caregiver asks, "What can I do for you?" Relax and know that the cancer fighter may not know, they just want to get well. One thing you can do is be there - sometimes without words. Often, it is your mere presence that is a blessing. Let them do all they can do, cause believe me, when they get tired they will sit down.
To the survivors, look for others that you can support even if you are still in the process of your healing. |

Neighborhood Food Watch
In partnership with Community Health Councils: African Americans Building A Legacy of Health - REACH US Project Celebrate Life is participating in the Neighborhood Food Watch Project. The objective is to empower community residents to advocate for healthy food options. If you would like to help with this project by evaluting the stores you normally shop in, please call Hortensia Moore at 323.242.0222 by Tuesday, May 27. We need 50 people to help with this project. |

Baldwin Hills Relay for Life
Over one million people get cancer each year and 1 out of every 2 men, as well as 1 out of every 3 women will have cancer during their lifetime. Now there is a way for you to help fight this terrible disease at RELAY FOR LIFE of BALDWIN HILLS! Much more than a fundraiser, Relay For Life is: A family-oriented, community-based event where teams raise funds, then take turns walking or running around a track for 24 hours. While not walking, team members and supporters camp out around the track enjoying music, food, live bands and other entertainment, camaraderie and the knowledge that they are making a difference. A cancer survivor event-within-an-event. At every Relay For Life, cancer survivors are honored for their courage and strength by beginning the event with an honorary lap. A luminaria ceremony. Survivors and those who are no longer with us are honored at this one-of-a-kind ceremony.
