Lippert Enterprises, Inc. - Sustained Growth, Market Diversification, and commitment to Ashland's Economic Development goals.

Founded by the late Larry Lippert in 1976, Lippert Enterprises, Inc. (www.lippertent.com) has evolved into a global leader, providing inventory solutions, supply chain support, and dealer return services to major corporations.  Lippert is an example of how creative business models can allow corporations to assume leadership positions in the flow of global commerce, right here from Ashland.

Lippert Enterprises's development of its Faultless Dr. campus began in November 1996, when Mr. Lippert became the first developer of industrial property on Faultless.  Serving as COO since 2007, Doug Brown has been with the company since 1978 and has built upon Mr. Lippert's vision.  680,000 sq.ft. in 4 buildings on Faultless Dr. is now operated by a total of 40 full-time employees.  The most recent acquisition (2008) was the former Hospira warehouse.  This allowed the consolidation of the Caldwell, OH operations into this impressive campus.  In 2007 the company also invested $750,000 in a renovation and expansion of their Jacobson Ave. facility.  This transformed the building into a globally recognized Dealer Returns Center that contracts with Volvo and Mack Trucks.

AACED congratulates Lippert Enterprises for their vision and also thanks them for their commitment to industrial growth.  Under the leadership of Doug Brown, the company has shown impressive "behind-the-scenes" commitment to the goals of the Ashland Business Park.  For example, the spur leading to the Park's newest tenant-Barbasol-would not be possible without an easement along the west side of Lippert property.  Mr. Brown agreed to charge ZERO dollars for this important project, which has led to the Ashland Business Park becoming one of Ohio's best "rail-served business parks".

Thank you, Lippert Enterprises, and best wishes for continued success!!

The BookMasters Group becomes 1st Ashland County recipient of Project Hire funds.

Project HIRE ("Hometown Investment in Regional Economies") is an excellent example of how the State of Ohio is utilizing federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds to improve Ohio's economy.  Project HIRE's goal is to match dislocated workers with growing Ohio firms like The BookMasters Group.  As dislocated workers are matched with firms, State officials work with CountyJob and Family Services officials to approve on-the-job or other training contracts.  A maximum of $6000.00 per trainee is available to firms for the training of the new hires.

Jennifer Weiss of The BookMasters Group explains the benefits of the program this way:

"I'm very happy to have the opportunity to represent The BookMasters Group as we partner with Larry Corn of the Ohio Department of Development and the Ashland County Job & Family Services (Gary Hannan and Patty Sheppard) to take part in the Project Hire program.  All three were instrumental with their guidance and direction to put together the On The Job Training Plan (OJT).  The Project Hire program provides a win-win situation benefiting displaced workers that are currently unemployed due to no fault of their own as well as area business by working together to get people back into the workforce and helping the community."

To date there have been over 300 On-the-Job training contracts approved in Ohio.  At this time approximately $6 million remains in the Ohio Learning Accounts for assisting dislocated workers.  Click here

Governor Strickland discusses Ohio's Competitive Advantage in the Advanced Energy Sector

At the recent National Energy Forum in Washington, D.C., Governor Ted Strickland discussed his vision of how Ohio must (and already is) invest in the advanced energy economy through a comprehensive approach that strengthens all factors affecting an economic sector.  Governor Strickland also did an excellent job of explaining how our rich agricultural and manufacturing heritage has allowed us to transition into solar, wind,  and biomass supply chains, just to name a few.  Significant job creation and product development has occurred in Ohio and the Nation in recent years in these areas.  AACED will continue to involve AshlandCounty with these efforts to benefit from potential local job creation.  Read the full text of the Governor's comments here:
