The North Central Ohio Workforce and Economic Summit

Dr. Edward E. Gordon, author and lecturer on Workforce and Community Development, will conduct this timely and important project.  You and your associates are cordially invited.  Dr. Gordon will deliver his important message in three different seminars.  One will be directed towards business, labor, government, and civic leaders, another for educators:  superintendents, administrators, and teachers, and a third will be designed for parents, and parent associations, students, and social agencies concerned with employment and career related issues for youth and adults.

Dr. Gordon will describe dozens of "gateways to the future-innovative partnerships" in which local governments, schools, businesses, labor unions, parents, training organizations, community activists, and others are collaborating to develop completely new approaches to education.  He will also be outlining how concerned citizens can establish these partnerships in their communities.  Dr. Gordon will then be looking down the road to 2020, explaining how we can build on the best of these new ideas so that the jobs pipeline flows directly again.

Everyone is welcome to attend these seminars. They will be offered free of charge.  Please register for these seminars by calling 419.774.5401 or e-mail Ms. Susan Messmore at messms@odjfs.state.oh.us

Fifth Annual Manufacturing Informational Fair

Sponsored by the Richland Manufacturing Coalition and the Manufacturing and Technology Small Business Development Center at Braintree

When: May 13, 2009
Where: North Central State College Kehoe Center
Shelby, OH
Time: 10am-3pm

This fair will afford you the opportunity to speak with over 300 high school and college students, inform them of opportunities that you and other manufacturers may provide for them, and explain to them the skills needed to work for your company.  This fair provides you the opportunity to build for your future employment needs while informing the students about the benefits and opportunities manufacturing provides over service and fast food industries.

This event is open to the public, but targeted to the high school and college students.  Your fee for displaying your information will go toward providing transportation for area high schools.  We already have 280 high schools students signed up to attend.

At the fair, we suggest a display of product samples, brochures, and information regarding the skill sets desired in your business.  Take time to discuss the need for these skills with the students - stress the importance of math, computer skills, science, machine and welding training, etc.  This is an opportunity to promote the skills that you need and to shape the students' opinion on manufacturing as a career.

Displays should fit on a 30" x 60" table.  The fee for a display is $100.

If you wish to participate in this great opportunity, please contact Bob Stimpert at 419.895.1861 or bobstimpert@yahoo.com or Ken Cline at 419.525.1614 or kcline@braintreepartners.org.  Please register your table by Friday, Mat 1st.
