In September, Barb did a bachelorette party for a group of 5! What a great idea! Thanks ladies! Public Group, Feb. 08
| Greetings!
Hope you're having a safe and happy summer! It's been hot and muggy here (What? In Northern VA? Noooo... :)) so we've been inside keeping cool. I've also HAD to stay inside, as my 11 yr old received a nice dose of chicken pox along with his 2nd chicken pox vaccine. Lovely. Try explaining to a kid WHY they got chicken pox with the "owie" shot they got for the sole purpose of NOT getting it in the first place? I felt like a failure. :D At least it's been a mild case.
Anyway, kind of a quiet summer, but good. As always, thanks for reading this, and for your interest, and have a wonderful week!
Oh! Don't forget to check out my special on 30 minute telephone readings at the bottom of the page. :)

Have you ever wondered what messages your loved ones would pass on from the other side?
Join us for this popular monthly event! This intimate and cozy gallery setting of approximately 15 is a wonderful way to learn a bit about various spiritual topics, as well as witness the process of mediumship.
During the event, Barb will conduct a mini talk on various topics, and then relay messages from the other side to those members of the audience she's pulled to. She then finishes with a small Q & A session. The entire event lasts approximately 2 hours.
Barb will read as many members of the audience that she can get to* during the event, but keep in mind that those spirit people with the most dominant energy are the ones who will be able to come through.
While she will do her best to keep the readings equal lengths, some spirit people have more to say than others. Some readings may be 5 minutes, while others may be longer. Upcoming dates:
August 9 (SOLD OUT) September 13 November 15 December 13

MEET JOY!
Yay! I finally found a local assistant, and she's been wonderful! :) Joy is one of my prior Psychic Development and Mediumship students, and a busy mom of SIX! Yes, I said SIX! Here's a little bit from Joy:
Having been born in the South (and living in the southeast corner of the United States for the majority of my life) partly accounts for my southern accent. The other part (that part folk just can't quite place) I attribute to the brief time I spent as a youth in a small, turn of the century Victorian mining town in the Colorado Rockies - complete with long defunct 19th century coal mine, unpaved main street, wooden sidewalks, and a one room schoolhouse! To my mother's dismay, I traded in my 'ya'll' for 'youse guys'! Further complicating the dialect mystery, my family relocated during my middle and high school years to Gulf Breeze, Florida, which was heavy on the Alabama and Louisiana accents. Developing my taste for laid back and casual, I ran with the slow crowd (which was actually the cool thing to do) and obtained the reputation of being the quiet girl in school. Truth is I just wanted to avoid someone asking me yet again where I was "from". Moving to Northern Virginia in the mid 70's was a culture shock. Virginia is a southern state, but to me the pace is anything but southern. I worked hard at removing the sand and salt from my vocabulary, and attempts to drop my drawl helped me pick up a little speed. But no, ya'll, I'm not from Texas. Not that there's anything wrong with Texas. I've just never been there! I'm the proud mom of six children. My oldest child currently is deployed with the USMC and my youngest attends elementary school. There was a time, not long ago, that all six attended five different schools within a five-mile radius. When I have free time, I enjoy reading non-fiction. I also enjoy trying new recipes - my most recent endeavor was birthday-cake-in-jar. As a mother of a child with a disability, my heart goes out to other Moms and family members who face the everyday challenges of creating a secure, loving and encouraging environment for their child with special needs. Particularly touching to me is the frustration experienced by children with dysfluency and delayed speech, as that speech has always, obviously, been an emotional issue near and dear to me!
Joy will be happy to help with questions you may have or helping you book. She can be reached at joy@barbmallon.com. |
I decided to take reader questions in this space instead, since I get so many every month, and figured it may help to publish my answers. Remember, I'm only giving my opinion or what I've learned and studied, AND, what worked best for me. :) So, in your learning process, take what works best for YOU and use it.
If you have a question you'd like me to answer, please be sure to submit it to office@barbmallon.com by the last day of each month.
From Cathy:
Hi Barb! This may be a dumb question, but I don't get why it's so important to meditate. What exactly are some benefits of meditation? Does it really help to develop my psychic abilities?
Hi Cathy!
First, there are no "dumb" questions. :) Meditation is simply quieting your mind a bit and getting yourself into a relaxed state; this to help you connect to your own Divine energy within you, your higher self and also spirit guides and spirit people. When you go into a deeper meditation, you actually go into different brain wave levels, one being an "alpha" state which allows you to become more aware of the energies mentioned above. These energies try very hard to get your attention during the day, yet, they tend to get a "busy signal". Sometimes, we are so preoccupied with bills, laundry, school, work, etc., it's hard for us to hear/sense/see, etc. our guides or even passed loved ones.
Meditation helps us develop a stronger relationship with our spirit guides, learn who they are, what their role is with us, and it allows them to better assist us on our path. While we can't "rely" on our guides for answers (they aren't spirit "answerers", they are spirit guides) we can certainly receive inspiration, messages and little nudges. :)
Also, with consistent meditation, we are agreeing to have that daily "office meeting" with our guides. If you work in an office, you probably have a "morning meeting" to plan for the day, get caught up on topics, etc. Meeting with your guides is much the same thing - if you prefer to meditate in the morning, it could be a "heads up" meeting for the day, OR if you meditate at night, a "what could I have done better today" meeting.
Meditation is the "key" to refining psychically or mediumistically, as it's an opening of sorts, to allow the other side to work with us. It helps us become more aware (or plug into) of these subtle energies, and to learn to attune to them. It also has many health benefits and can help get through stressful times as well. If you can dedicate even 15 minutes a day to having that "office meeting", I promise, you'll feel the difference! Thanks Cathy!
