Spirit Week!
Remind parents that Spirit week is coming up and that they need to be sure they have sent in their child's white t-shirt ASAP. Some classes are beginning to work on shirts this week
Spirit Week is September 10th - 14th
Monday - Inside Out Day
Tuesday - PJ Day
Wednesday - Crazy Hat/Hair Day
Thursday - Tacky Day (parents are welcome to attend a staff tacky runway assembly at 2pm that afternoon)
Friday - Class Shirt Day and Share Out
Peace Day is September 21st
CCS will participate in National Peace day with a parade around the school. Students will make paper doves in their classrooms and learn about the history of Peace Day. Our theme this year has been taken from Jane Goodall's organization, Roots and Shoots.
Ms. Lisa would love to have students and parents join us and assist in the making of the Giant Dove of Peace. This is an ambitious project and will only be possible if she has parent volunteers and donations of supplies. If the projects go forward, volunteers will meet in the art room on Thursday, September 13th at 2:30 to participate in this project.
Supplies needed:
4 twin/single white bedsheets
2 used bicycle inner tubes (bike shops will have a tone of these lying around)
Black and Yellow/orange paint
Three 10ft long poles (aluminum poles, bamboo, or broom sticks work great)
Stitch witchery (so we won't have to sew)
Volunteer opportunities in the art/drama room:
Pencil and color pencil sharpening
Web site creation and updates
Random room organization jobs (cleaning paint brushes, fixing paint jars, checking markers, cutting laminated cards etc.)
Event helpers
Assisting during special art projects during afternoon classes
