Greetings!
Joseph Galata - Executive Director of SAFF, Stefanie Powell - newly elected President of the SAFF Board of Directors, and Mikie Franklin - Washoe County Social Services Supervisor receive a check from Employees of the Frontier Credit Union.
$1,000 dollars raised during a Family Night Bowling Event with over 50 Frontier Credit Union employees attending. Children, teens, and adults in foster and adoptive families had a blast at the Bowling and Pizza Party.

This site will be used for promoting SAFF's educational programs. A 3 minute video can be seen on this site as well as many photos of our educational programs. Click on "activities" for detailed information and photos. Thanks to Keith & Chrissi Barnett - We Shoot Video, Jesse Fish - web site designer, SAFF's tutors, Zumba instructors, horse therapists, Damonte Ranch High School and Spanish Springs High School students, and all the wonderful children who had a blast at the Carson City Brewery Art Center's Community Access TV station.
Thanks to all of the funders of our education programs especially the Frank M. and Gertrude R. Doyle Foundation, Washoe County School District, Division of Child and Family Services, Nevada Equine Assisted Therapy, Nevada 2-1-1, Unity Center, Frontier Credit Union, Nevada Energy Foundation. And thanks to all of the Washoe County Social Workers who refer their children and teens to the various programs especially our incredible Tutoring Program!!!!

SAFF's 2nd web site...
| SAFF's 2nd web site www.positiveparentingtogether.org... contains inspiriational stories from birth parents who have been re-united with their children.
A new story featuring a single birth dad - who overcame his personal problems and with the help of WCSS, DCFS, WIN social workers, and incredible foster parents... will be up on the web within a week! (we're waiting for new family photos!!!)

SAFF's Board of Directors meeting...
|
At the Monday morning Board of Directors meeting for SAFF... Stephanie Powell - a Crisis Call Center Counselor, foster/adoptive parent, and owner of a Day Care Center - was elected President for a 2 year term. Laurie Roberts - an equine therapist and co-owner of Nevada Equine Assisted Therapy was elected Treasurer. Rose Santos - former Board President was elected Interim Secretary.
SAFF is fortunate to have new members from the professional public community as well as the foster/adoptive family community joining the Board of Directors. If you would like to be a board member... pls join us at the next meeting - Monday 12 9 am -10 am. Board members are held once a month on Monday mornings for 1 hour. We have fun! Wonderful positive meetings in planning all of SAFF's exciting programs.
We would also like to offer a special thank you to our out-going President Rose Santos who with her loyalty and generosity guided SAFF into a wonderful realm of new and exciting programs! Rose will remain on the board as Interim Secretary!

Arts Community Gathering at SAFF - FUNDRAISER

- SAFF DOWNSTAIRS CONFERENCE ROOM....
Jeanmarie Simpson, founder of the Nevada Shakespeare Company, a NYC playwright and actress, will be in Reno performing a reading of her new one woman show MARY'S JOY. Members of the Reno-Sparks-Carson City arts and theatre community will be attending this catered evening of theatre.
Donations will be given to SAFF for our educational programs benefiting children and teen in foster care. Jeanmarie Simpson has extended an invitation to foster, adoptive, and birth parents, as well as professionals in the world of foster care, who wish to attend.
MARY'S JOY is a true story of a 1700's Quaker woman in New England who was imprisoned for refusing to give up her principals of peace and education.

SAFF's Foster Parent Training...
| SAFF will sponsor a 4 hour training for foster parents.
- Friday evening March 23 from 5:30 -9:30
- at the SAFF Building at 1301 Cordone Avenue
- in the Board of Directors Conference Room.
4 hours of credit for re-licensing will be given to the participants.

During January and February, SAFF's Executive Director gave speeches and presentations to various community service organizations including the Lion's Club, Kiwanna's Club, and the congregation of the Unity Center, as well as a 60 minute radio interview.
We thank those groups for the invitations and thank individuals within each group who gave generous donations to help expand SAFF's programs!

Easter is approaching ... SAFF will keep foster parents and birth parents up-to-date on the distribution of Easter baskets, home-made blankets, handmade pillow cases, and Borders Books!!!!!!
