Arts and Sciences Program Highlight

Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies  (WGSS) is an interdisciplinary field that places gender and sexuality at the

center of inquiry. It raises questions about socially and culturally constructed phenomena that affect personal lives, artistic expression, social relationships, and the ways people think about the world.  Majors develop important skills in research, analysis, writing, verbal communication, and leadership that can be applied in a broad range of occupations.  The department offers a supportive and intellectually challenging community, small class sizes, and close interaction with faculty.   Contact an advisor.

Career Corner - Graduating?

Explore the FutureLink job and internship posting site. There is a newly added Resources section to research a broad range of career paths and industries, as well as explore skill sets required for specific careers, typical job duties associated with specific fields, the expected level of job growth, and average starting salaries.  Those seeking opportunities outside of the Columbus region should also be using the NACElink Extended Job Search feature found under the Jobs and Internships tab.

From Arts and Sciences Advising

During spring quarter, Arts and Sciences Advising will be open after normal business hours for walk-ins on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Honors Program students should call (614) 292-5104 for an advising appointment or visit 207 Enarson Hall. 

Summer Undergraduate Research Institute (SURI)

SURI providSURIes student researchers with a strong sense of community by networking, developing professional skills and having fun during Summer Semester.  SURI offers a series of enrichment programs, both professional and social.  All undergraduate researchers are welcome to participate free of charge whether they are participating in formal, organized research programs or are conducting independent research under the guidance of a faculty mentor.

Evalyn Gates, of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, will give the last Science Sundays' lecture for 2011-2012. She will talk about Einstein's Telescope: The Hunt for Dark Matter and Dark Energy.

Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD) Open House
Explore ACCAD, interact with demonstrations that include digital media performances, educational games, 3D animated films, virtual worlds, 3D tracking devices, motion capture technology and more. AACAD has bee an innovator in computer graphics and animation for the past three decades!
ACCAD is located on OSU's west campus at 1224 Kinnear Rd.

Dance Uptown: DIRT 
Dance - Dirt #2The Department of Dance presents original choreography by internationally acclaimed artists Bebe Miller and Esther Baker-Tarpaga. The site-specific dances will literally be performed in the dirt, in the agricultural arena of Plumb Hall, 2027 Coffey Rd.  More information.
