 Whether you are new or returning, we are delighted to welcome you to the College of Arts and Sciences! With 39 departments and schools and over 70 majors, our college offers you unlimited opportunities. From Anthropology to Zoology and from World Literature to Dance, we encourage you to explore, to question, and to create in innovative ways. You will not only uncover the many benefits of a large university, but life-long friendships that emerge from taking part in the many smaller groups that make up our college community. Along with your fellow students, you are embarking on an exciting and transformational experience. We look forward to sharing that journey with you.

New ASC Majors Atmospheric Sciences and Geographic Information Science (GIS) are two new majors in the Department of Geography and are designed to provide students with essential knowledge and skills to meet the growing demand for careers in these fields.
Sexuality Studies is a new interdisciplinary major that examines how social, historical, psychological, literary, legal, biological, and political contexts shape sexual practices, expressions, identities, and representations. (Pending official approval by the Ohio Board of Regents.)

From ASC Advising Welcome! Early in autumn quarter returning students will receive information about working with major and college advisors to plan for future terms -- whether you are graduating on quarters or semesters. New students will work on degree plans in Arts and Sciences Survey 100. In addition to scheduling an appointment with your advisor, walk-in advising will be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1:00 - 3:00 beginning the second week of the quarter. Career Corner
As you consider the wide variety of ways to get involved on campus, it's helpful to reflect on what you can gain from specific experiences. There are many, many ways to get involved at Ohio State -- choose some activities for the "fun factor"; choose others that will allow you to enhance skills needed in the workplace. Check out the Core Workplace Skills tip sheet to learn about what employers look for when recruiting students and focus on ways to enhance your capabilities in those areas.
