December 19, 2011

Dear Friends,

You probably know about the innovative and creative work JASMYN has done for the past 17 years in Jacksonville with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) teens and young adults.  We help our most marginalized and rejected youth find safety, shelter, health care, and other basic needs. We also nurture LGBT youth and students as they develop pride and confidence and the ability to help themselves. Everything we do at JASMYN, and every dollar spent, goes toward our mission of making Jacksonville a better place by supporting and empowering our LGBTQ youth.

But did you know that JASMYN has a leadership role that goes beyond the JASMYN House doors in making a difference in our community?  In 2011 we have also realized our mission to bring people and resources together to promote diversity and human rights. We respond to calls frequently from parents, teachers, and managers in corporate, business, and health sectors, lending our expertise on LGBT issues and ways to support LGBT youth and the larger community. Our staff and board members serve as leaders in several local initiatives and groups that are working to promote fair treatment and equity for our LGBT youth and community.  We bring national organizations and resources to Jacksonville to increase visibility and strengthen our community.  This facet of our work makes our city and northeast Florida a safer and more supportive place for the LGBTQ youth we hold at the center of everything we do.

I invite you, during this holiday season, to take a moment and reflect on JASMYN's impact in our city.  JASMYN is a local, community-based organization that invests every contribution we receive into improving the Jacksonville LGBT community.  There is no other organization in Jacksonville with a 17 year history of stepping out in support of the LGBT community.   Our record of innovative services for young people, coupled with our leadership in public advocacy and education, has made a difference in Jacksonville in 2011.

If you support positive change in Jacksonville, for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, for our youth, and for creating a city where the diversity of ALL is appreciated and nurtured, I invite you to support JASMYN by sending a contribution today. Your gift is an investment in our LGBT youth and in positive change for our community.  You can make an online donation or on-going pledge of support through our website, at www.jasmyn.org, or you can mail your year-end gift check to JASMYN, P.O. Box 380103, Jacksonville, FL 32205.

Together, we can continue to make change.

Sincerely,

Cindy Watson

Executive Director

P.S.  Please help give JASMYN a strong start in 2012.  All donations - $10, $100, or $1,000, will be dedicated to making  positive changes for our LGBT youth and community right here in Jacksonville.  Please send your check or make your on-line contribution today at www.jasmyn.org.
