On Wednesday, April 11th, the CFA Society of Iowa welcomes Bo Peabody, co-founder and Managing General Partner of Village Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm.  Mr. Peabody will speak about "Why the current bubble is absolutely perfect for everyone."

Please note that next month's luncheon is also our Annual Meeting in which we finalize next year's slate of officers for the 2012-13 CFA Society of Iowa Board of Directors.  The luncheon will take place on Wednesday, May 16th - 11:30 a.m. and will feature guest speaker John Roberts, CEO of the CFA Institute.

The CFA Society of Iowa is pleased to present Village Ventures' co-founder and Managing General Partner, Mr. Bo Peabody.

 

Topic:  "Why the Current Bubble is Absolutely Perfect for Everyone"

 

Bo PeabodyBo Peabody is co-founder and Managing General Partner of Village Ventures, an early stage venture firm with over $175M under management as well as a services and knowledge sharing platform serving a network of 14 venture funds with over $500M under manaBo Peabodygement. Bo is also a Venture Partner at Greycroft Partners. 


In 1992, Bo founded Tripod, Inc., one of the original social networks. Tripod was sold to Lycos in 1998 and Bo became Vice President of Network Strategy. Lycos was sold to Spain's Terra Networks in 2001. In 1998, Bo co-founded Streetmail (now called Everyday Health); in 2000, he co-founded VoodooVox; in 2004, he co-founded HealthGuru Media; and in 2006 he co-founded UplayMe. Bo also co-owns Mezze, Inc, a hospitality group consisting of three award-winning restaurants.


Bo is an expert in consumer-oriented businesses and is an investor and board member at Babble, Makeover Solutions, and Top Ten Reviews; and a board observer at Travel Ad Network. He has been featured in major business and consumer publications, and has received numerous honors. Bo wrote a book for entrepreneurs calledLucky or Smart?, which was published by Random House in January 2005.


A graduate of Williams College, Bo resides New York City and Williamstown, MA. He is a Trustee of The Academy at Charlemont.

April's Luncheon will be held at the Des Moines Embassy Club located on the 34th floor of Ruan Center at 7th and Grand, Des Moines, Iowa.  Registration and buffet-style luncheon service begins at 11:30 with program to begin at 12:00.

1. Click on the above link.
2. Log-in to your CFA Institute online account.  (You will need your User Name and password.  If you do not have one, see below.) These are case sensitive and should all be in lower case.
3. Click on "Events and Conferences."
4. Click "Register for an Event."
5. Find the event for the correct month and time for which you want to register.  Click on that event.
6. Click "Register" and follow through the process.  (The price shown initially is the guest price, but society members are automatically given a $5 discount. Reply to this email if  you are a member and do not receive the discount.)
 
Confirmation:  Upon completion, a receipt will be sent to your email address confirming your registration.

 

Special dietary requests: Any special dietary requests (light plate, vegetarian, specific food allergens) may be made by indicating your request in the "Special Needs" field of your profile at the CFA Institute.

 

Cancellation Policy:  If you need to cancel your reservation, please let us know in a reply to this email at least 3 days prior to the event for a full refund. We will submit a request to CFA Institute and your credit card will be refunded. 

Continuing Education Credit
 
Charterholders tracking continuing education will be awarded one (1) hour of credit for the program.

Attendees requesting documentation for continuing education credit for other professional designations should make their request by sending an email, along with their designations requirements, to: iowacfa@gmail.com.
