Traveling is a wonderful experience for most people, but the process of preparing for a trip can be extremely stressful. The following FOUR TIPS will make your future journeys trouble-free and kid friendly.
1. Prepare a Main Packing List Develop a primary packing list on your computer of all your essentials. Have your children create a customized list of their own. Add to it, subtract from it and edit it throughout the year. When it comes time to pull it out for an upcoming trip, check off the items as you pack them into your suitcase. When you arrive home at the end of your trip, add items to the list that you had wished you had packed, for your next adventure. 2. Have Your "Essential" Pre-packed and Ready Collect sample sizes of all of your favorite cosmetics, first aid supplies, over the counter drugs and kid friendly activities, and group them into small kits for future travel. When it comes time to pack for your next trip, just drop them into your suitcase. No additional thought needed! Refresh items as needed. 3. Dress Smartly Plan your wardrobe for your upcoming day of travel. If you are planning on flying, wear an easy-fitting, front closure sweater or jacket and comfortable pants with plenty of handy, accessible pockets. Wear slip-on shoes, which can save time at security. And pack a large scarf or sarong wrap to use over your shoulders instead of the "not so clean" airline blankets, if the cabin gets chilly. Have your kids also wear comfortable clothes on the plane ride. Don't forget to pack a few extra items, such as a sweater or jacket in your carry-on. To avoid using the airplane pillows, pack inflatable ones for their use. 4. Booking your Flight Whenever possible, streamline your trip by booking a nonstop flight. Traveling at nonpeak times such as late at night, midday and Monday through Wednesday will give you a good chance to be on an emptier flight. This could give you extra room for the kids to stretch out and sleep and a free space for your child safety seat. |
