Schedule your child's yearly physical early.
Why? Physicians fill up quickly during this busy time of year. Signed doctor forms will be needed for participation in school related activities. While you're at the doctor's office, be sure to pick up a few extra forms to have on hand. Schedule your child's eye exam before the start of school. Why? This will give you time to purchase those unexpected glasses your child might need this year. Deliver medications to the school nurse prior to the first day. Why? The school nurse will need to have all proper written instructions and medication in original containers in order to dispense to your child. Make copies of completed forms that can be used again next year. Why? Many forms are identical year after year. By placing them in a folder labeled "next year," you won't have to recreate the information again and again. Place an inbox in a central area of the house. Why? This will be the designated spot where your child can drop important papers requiring your attention every day after school. Have a few rolls of quarters on hand. Why? Chances are, your child will need some emergency money from time to time. Pack a plastic sandwich bag with a few quarters and give to your child for safe keeping in their backpack. |
