President's Update: Common Sense Wins
By Victor N. Viereck, CPA
President, UCNH Chamber
As we have previously reported, President Obama's Health Care bill included horrendous new requirements for filing Form 1099.
Business organizations across the country, including Universal City North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, United Chambers of Commerce of the San Fernando Valley, and the Business Federation of Los Angeles County (BizFed), rose up in intelligent condemnation of the new Form 1099 filing requirements.
Although repeal took much longer than it should, educating Congress and a big electoral change in Congress led to both branches of Congress passing matching legislation that President Obama has signed, repealing the Form 1099 requirements that were included in his Health Care Bill.
With the repeal, the previous Form 1099 requirements are still in force, and need to be adhered to. Please consult your Certified Public Accountant to know what is still required.
Now that common sense has finally prevailed, chambers of commerce across the country have proved their value to business. |
