Tips From the Pro's    

 

Nothing is more frustrating than hitting great shots to get near the green, only to make a mistake from a seemingly "easy" chip shot. Some tricks to achieve success around the greens are to:

 

A) Narrow your stance, grip down on the club slightly and make a deliberate "brush" of the grass with solid wrists.

 

B) In your setup, move more than half of your weight to the foot closest to the target and accelerate your hands with the club down, through and past the ball.

  

C) Use an appropriate club (try to get the ball rolling like a putt as soon as possible). If you are close to the green and have lots of green between your ball and the hole use a lower lofted iron such as 6, 7, or 8. If you are further away from the green and have to carry the ball higher and further use a higher lofted club such as PW or SW, while still allowing the club to contact the ball first and then the grass.

Superintendents Report  

  

I'll start this communication by saying this report will be a combination of a few months throughout the summer.  I will try and see if I can get you up to date on some of our maintenance issues and give you a little insight to why and how we deal with certain situations that arise throughout the summer months.

 

June turned out to be quite the rainy, wet month but as a whole our golf courses held up very well. We are starting to enter the summer months and have gotten down to our summer time HOC (height of cut) on our greens. The HOC is 140mm (5/32) and the green are stimping out at...
