Welcome to OLF

     Educating students

of the 21st Century!

Investing with pride....
Dear Parents and OLF Families,

One of our responsibilities as a learning community is to care for, maintain and improve our school facilities and beautiful campus environment. As stewards of the school, we tend not to think about the cost and effort that is involved in this task. School improvements often go unnoticed, but every small or large improvement adds to the sum of "OLF pride!"

Over the past weeks, the following "touches" have improved the aesthetic look and use of our school building and were made in addition to the school's indoor classroom technology upgrades:
sun umbrellas      sun cover at lunch area     new carpet in faculty lounge
  • the new outdoor sun cover for the lunch area replaces the previous cover that was damaged by high winds
  • the new sun umbrellas for the Grotto replace the broken ones that had served our students well
  • the new carpet in the faculty lounge to replaces the damaged one from last school year
  • flags        polescones
  • our new traffic cones for safety eliminate the "construction look" that was lingering
  • the Class of 2012 delivered a new American flag as promised during graduation last summer
  • Bryson and the Schnarr Family donated the new California flag
  • Aida helped construct a cart for the traffic poles and tailored safety ropes for easier traffic set-up and clean-up
    •
    • Shortly, I  will  begin  meeting with various committees including the Secret Garden Angels, Facilities Committee and other Campus Angels to continue our work in these areas.
    •
    • As parents, you can help by reminding our children to appreciate the time, effort, money and resources that are being invested to provide for their learning environment! We are truly blessed!
    •
    • Also, imagine what we can accomplish when we meet our budgetary needs through 100% family participation in the Annual Giving Campaign! Imagine the possibilities and soar like a falcon!
    •
    •  Blessing,
    • Beate Nguyen, M.A.Ed

    Halloween Parade

    Wednesday, October 31

                                    A fun-filled day for everyone!
On Wednesday, October 31st we have an early dismissal day at 2 p.m.! This year we will not be having the Trunk-or-Treat in the parking lot. Most parents weren't happy with all of the candy that was being accumulated, ....and we listened! Therefore, our Student Council has decided that we will be having a costume parade instead with fun, games and activities throughout the day!

Please read this carefully, so that your child can enjoy this special day!

Students, teachers and parents are allowed to come in costumes. Costumes need to be in-line with our Catholic values and be appropriate for school-aged children!  No masks! No props! No painted faces! No spaghetti straps! No clothing shorter than 4 inches above the knee! No scary costumes! Clothing must be comfortable and able to be worn during the entire school day.

    • Pictures with your "Halloween Buddies"
    • Costume parade and competition
      •  "Most inspiring", "funniest" & "home-made original"
    • Pumpkin carving competition and exhibit!
      • "Classic", "spooky", "funniest", "artistic"
      • $1 to enter (proceeds for Student Council funds)
    • Games and fun at lunch time!

    Pray for Lilly Needham

We all continue to pray for Lily Needham! Our 4th Grader continues to recover slowly. To obtain factual journal information on her progress, please visit:

The origami garlands were presented to the Needham Family to hang in Lilly's room.  The school also met the orangutan, who will hold Lilly's spot in class until her return to school.  The orangutan will wear a backpack so that anyone can place special messages in the backpack which will be delivered to Lilly.
