          OLF Ambassadors Program: Year II
Dear Parents and OLF Families,

Last year, we introduced the "OLF Ambassadors" as an opportunity for our children to experience authentic service learning. This idea evolved into a solid program that is well received and successful.

This year, we will continue to grow and increase the opportunities for our students to respect, grow, serve, advocate and lead in the areas of social justice, environmental stewardship, and peaceful collaboration.

The OLF Ambassadors demonstrate a genuine desire to serve with others at school, in the parish and the local and global community.

Authentic Service Learning is not merely an accumulation of points or service hours. It entails prayer, leadership, action and reflection.

Authentic Service Learning is accomplished by utilizing one's God-given talents, a critical lens at current events, action on social justice issues, and a faith-filled, kind heart that works with others to solve the challenges of the 21st Century while affirming the human dignity of every person. Every member of our 21st Century Learning Community is an "OLF Ambassador".

OLF Ambassadors can start participating in authentic service learning as early as MAP grade with proper parental supervision. Various local and international opportunities for authentic service learning are afforded to all Ambassadors, whether they are students, parents and OLF staff.

Our first big event is the International Coastal Clean-up this Saturday! See you there!
Blessing,
Beate Nguyen, M.A.Ed

OLF Family Directory Advertisements
We are putting together the OLF Family Directory 2012-13. This vital tool helps everyone stay in touch and communicate with each other. If you wish to advertise on the back pages of our OLF Family Directory, please submit a print-ready copy to Mrs. Clark cclark@olfschool.net by September 21, 2012. Ads are $25 for business card size, $50 for half page and $100 for full page. Space for full page ads will be limited!
Annual Giving Campaign
We're off to a great start thanks to our team of dedicated Annual Giving Campaign parent volunteers under the leadership of Linda Gould! As explained during Parent Orientation, the AGC is one of three fundraisers in the school benefiting every student and directly impacting the operating budget!

Our goal is to have every family make an extra effort in giving, since 100% family participation would open up other grants opportunities outside the school.

Please contact Linda Gould and her AGC Team to see how we can reach 100% family participation, our goal of $40,000 and pursue any matching funds from your company! Help make a huge difference in the lives of our students!

You'll be invited to our Early Bird Breakfast on Friday, October 19, 2012,
if we receive your pledge or donation by October 12, 2012!
GOLF TOURNAMENT - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Calling all Golfers! The OLF Golf Tournament was scheduled for November 2012, but maybe postponed to January 2013! We need all the help we can get to make this a great event! Additional volunteers are needed on the organizing team, and it would be great if we have a chairperson willing to lead us in the direction of success!
